Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Bottle Brush Tree Trio

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! They have a beautiful colour palette again this week – it has a retro Christmas vibe to me – red, aqua and silver!

I always struggle a bit with aqua and often feel I go either too green or too blue. Today I have ended up on the bluer end of that spectrum, but it still looks aqua to me, what do you think?

I used my brand new Flora and Fauna Bottle Brush tree die for my card. Yep ANOTHER new tree die, I definitely have a problem with tree dies… no self control! Anyway, I haven’t been able to find this anywhere in the UK so I bought it from Impress Cards and Crafts in Seattle and crossed my fingers! It actually arrived very quickly, which was such a relief!

The tree holders are from a Penny Black set and the sentiment is by My Favorite Things.

Day 12 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year.

The sponsor for Day 12 was Pinkfresh. I loved how Lindsey used leftover die cuts for some of her tags so I pulled out a bunch of my smaller dies to create my take! So many brands here! Taylored Expressions, Memory Box, Savvy Stamps and Simon Says Stamp! I loved creating this and it has given me a few card ideas!

Day 11 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year.

The sponsor for Day 11 was Birch Press Designs. I absolutely love their dies and, having found a super UK retailer this year, I now have a few more sets by them.

I loved Ardyth’s tag – I bought the Frost Flake layering set a few weeks ago and hadn’t managed to play with it… until now! I used a fabulous embossing folder by Studio Carabelle for the background.

AAA Cards sketch challenge with primary colours twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the sketch below and if you want to join with our optional twist, please use primary colours only! Our sponsor is Funky Fossil Designs.

For the main image, I used a much loved and rather old cling stamp by Unity Stamp Co. When I bought this, the Misti hadn’t been created and I found it quite difficult to get decent ink coverage using just a clear block! The Misti has made stamping so much easier! The die that I used to create the vertical stripe is by Concord & 9th.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Granne, who has some lovely cards on her blog – go check it out!!

Hope you can play along with us!

A basket of die cuts

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! I hope that link works! My home wifi provider’s setting are currently limiting access to blogspot addresses so I had to be creative with my links. Hopefully they’ll resolve the issues soon!

Anyway, back to the challenge! The palette this week is brown, red, green and orange.

I used a selection of dies by Simply Graphic, Penny Black and the Ton Stamps for my take.

Thanks for stopping by!
