Hello there!

I’m sharing another one of my Christmas in July cards today. Seriously, I can’t believe we’re over halfway through the month! Time is certainly flying by!

Anyway, I’m playing along with the current Case this Sketch challenge and decided to use one of my sweet Memory Box reindeer dies. I coloured the deer using distress oxide inks which I sponged onto the body with an ink blending tool. I then coloured the scarf using the inks with a splash of water.

To create the background, I applied a light coat of Shaded Lilac distress oxide ink through an Echo Park stencil and then added a coat of Tonic Studio moonstone glimmer paste! Love all the sparkle!

The sentiment is from a set by Marianne Designs. I’m delighted to say that I located it very quickly using my new Evernote system. I’ve only just started uploading my supplies to the system (that process is going to take forever!) but really pleased with it so far!

Find Your Paradise

Happy Saturday everyone. Although looking at my card, maybe that should be Happy Caterday!

I finally managed to get my hands on some Distress blending brushes and couldn’t wait to use them on my more intricate stencils. I love that I was able to get great coverage without getting the brush caught in the plastic. Yep, I think I’m going to enjoy using these!

To create the background, I added a layer of Antique Linen distress oxide ink on my base card, applying it slightly heavier in the bottom right corner, near where I planned to stamp the image. Then I splattered some ink using a paint brush. After stamping Newton, I lifted the Antique Linen colour from the image and then coloured it in using regular distress ink.

I then use an Echo Park Paper Co stencil to create the palm tree background, applying regular distress in with the distress brush. I didn’t bother masking the image off as it was easy to avoid stencilling in that area – thanks to the precision of the brushes!

Anyway, I’m entering my one-layer card into the current Timeout Challenge. The theme is ‘holidays’ which really means ‘vacation’ to me (one layer is the optional twist)!

Be the rainbow

Happy Friyay everyone!

I’m playing along with the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (‘all things bright and beautiful’) and using Paperartsy stamps. I found this sentiment on one of my Paperartsy sets and it inspired the whole card. Isn’t it wonderful? Words to live by, don’t you think?

I used my Zig Watercolor brush markers to colour the image and then masked it off to create a blended/stencilled distress ink background.

Stencilled birthday

Happy Friyay everyone!

Simon Says Stamp is hosting quite a few stencil challenges this week so I decided it was time to open up the Simon Says Stamp ‘Hope Blooms’ stencil!

I used regular distress inks to create the flowery background and then used a stamp from a flower set to create the centres. I didn’t want to overpower the delicate flowers with stencilled leaves, so I used a stencil from the Bokeh set to add a spotted background.

To finish off the card,I added a die cut greeting, also from Simon Says Stamp.

Sweet Poppy hugs

Happy Saturday!

I spent a lot of today organising some of my crafty supplies and made a huge pile of stamps. dies and stencils that I want to use ‘right now’ and set to work!

The main image is from a metal stencil from Sweet Poppy. It has been ages since I bought/used a metal stencil and I need to practice a little more with them. I found it really difficult to apply the ink through the narrow gaps (stems) – maybe I need a brush rather than a mini blending tool.

So, I soon abandoned that process and instead applied some texture paste… and then promptly bent said stencil when I was cleaning it. Told you I’m not used to metal stencils. I bent it back and will pop it under some books to make sure it flattens completely.

Anyway, it was easy to apply colour through the stencil once the texture paste was dry – I used Abandoned Coral and Bundled Sage Distress Oxide inks – two of my favourite colours!

I added a die from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit (from March 2018) and added a few pearls to finish it off.

Newton’s Easter fun

Hello everyone!

Although I try not to buy Easter sets, every year, a few break my resolve. This year, I couldn’t resists the Newton’s Nook Newton’s Easter set. Isn’t it cutte!

I used my twinkling H2Os to colour the image and then applied some distress ink – using a heart stencil from Simon Says Stamp. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted.
