Technique – Stamping

Hopping By to Say Hi!

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the Addicted to CAS challenge which has a theme of animals.

I’m currently making the most of all my Easter supplies so knew that I would want to make an Easter card for this challenge – so that meant bunnies or chicks (although I suppose I could have also used my Easter Newton stamps too). Anyway, in the end I chose the Simon Says Stamp Oh Bunny set and got creating.

I decided to add a little interest to my card base by adhering a die cut background for the bunnies and chose the Frieda Wreath by Poppystamps. Next I stamped the largest bunny image in the set using distress oxide ink and then cut it out using the coordinating die. Finally I added a Taylored Expressions sentiment to complete my card.

Egg Planters… again!

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along in the April Four Seasons Challenge using Penny Black products. The challenge has a fabulous spring/Easter inspiration board and I knew that I wanted to ink up the beautiful Delicate cling stamp (40-832) again before Easter.

Last time I only used part of the stamp, but I was determined to use all of it this time! I decided to use a square card base so that I would still have plenty of space around the image!

I coloured the image using my Twinkling H2O paints and added some stickles to a couple of the plants for extra sparkle! As it was drying, I stamped out the sentiment from the Spring Day set (30-805) and fussy cut around it before adhering it to the card.

I felt that the card still needed a little something, but the addition of a few sequins didn’t quite do it…. then I remembered the fabulous new Vintage Touch die set (51-730)! I chose a spindle, die cut it a couple of times and adhered it to the card! And hey presto, it finally felt ‘finished’!

Tulip egg card

Hello  everyone!

After inking up a wood-mounted stamp yesterday, I chose another one for today’s card which I made for the colour challenge at  CAS Colours and Sketches.

I chose the beautiful Tulip Egg stamp by Whipper Snapper Designs. This one has 2005 on it, but I’m pretty sure I got this much later – maybe in 2010.

Anyway, I stamped it in Frayed Burlap Archival ink and coloured it with Twinkling H2O paints. I then adhered the Twiggy Nest die cut from Memory Box to my card base and added the egg and a Simon Says Stamp sentiment. I felt it still needed a little something so I coloured some white card with my three colours of Twinkling H2Os and die cut some tiny circles which I randomly adhered on the background and nest.

Egg Tree

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today I have my card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products wood-mounted stamps! What a blast from the past!

I still love my wood-mounted stamps and like Christmas ornaments, I seem to have a memory attached to a lot of them! I remember picking up this egg tree stamp at the till in Archivers back in 2011 or 2012. Oh how I loved going to that store whenever I was in Chicagoland! Anyway, today I inked it up and coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints and trimmed it to create a front panel, as per the sketch. I even went for curved edges and used my Crop-a-dile corner rounder for the first time in AGES. And it was another Archiver’s purchase back in the day!

I added a sentiment by Hero Arts (again another wood-mounted stamp  – from the bargain bucket at Simon Says Create one year!

Inspired by a stamp…

Hello Everyone!

Last week, I created this card using part of Penny Black’s new Delicate cling stamp (40-832) which I had so much fun colouring. I think it’s such a clever image and started to wonder what it might look like if it was made from die cuts! So I set myself a little challenge – to create a similar scene using just die cuts! I pulled out my Penny Black dies and stamps and got to work!

First of all, I got to work on the foliage. I used the following sets: Frosted Greens (51-710), Daisy Delight (51-676), Garden Greens (51-652), Hanging Planters (51-501) and Spirited (51-721) and coloured them with distress inks. Next I turned to the eggs – I decided to use different size ovals which I cut from a panel I created from Distress Oxide inks. I used a die from the Border Collection (51-717) to cut off the tops of the eggs and saved a few remnants to add to my card!

Next up, the egg cups! They proved most challenging! The plant pot dies that I have are too small and the stamps that I have seemed too tall…. then I decided to get creative! I stamped out the pots from the Perfectly Potted set (30-874) and then trimmed them! I even used one pot to house the two smaller eggs!

Then it was time to adhered all my little egg planters! I created circle focal point using distress inks to ground my die cuts and then adhered them. I added a couple of the egg tops and a few die cut mini flowers (also from 51-501) as well.

Finally I added a sentiment from the Spring Day set (30-805).

This was quite a long process but it was totally enjoyable! It was so much fun finding dies to use and thinking around some of the creative challenges!

I’m going to enter this into the Just Us Girls challenge that has a theme of ‘Egg’ this week.

Egg Planters

Hello everyone!

Today I have my card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products by Penny Black.

I’ve been looking forward to colouring the Delicate cling stamp (40-832) ever since I first the new Springtime 2022 release! Isn’t it a fabulous idea? Perfect for either Easter or more general spring cards!

I decided to use a section of the stamp for the sketch challenge and coloured the image using my Twinkling H2O paints before splattering aqua paint generously! I then trimmed down the panel and fussy cut around one little flower so that it fell off the edge of the panel. I adhered it to my card base and added a strip of glitter paper, positioning that little fussy cut section on top.

I used the sentiment from last year’s Spring Day set (30-805) and fussy cut around it. I adhered it onto my card base – it’s actually strategically positioned to hide part of the foliage from the fourth egg cup!
