Technique – ink blending

Featuring ink blending

I Heart Dad!

Hi everyone!

Both the Simon Says Stamp Monday and Wednesday challenges have a masculine theme this week. I pulled out my Tim Holtz products for my entry! I used a crazy bird stamp and the Distress Oxide inks to colour the image, background and balloons. I love those inks!

I used dies from My Favorite Things and part of a Hero Arts stamp to create the balloons.

I couldn’t resist a bit of shimmer so I added a drop or two from my Nuvo aqua shimmer pen!

I really enjoyed making this card, but it’ll probably stay in my craft room as my own dad definitely prefers my CAS cards and so that’s what I’ll be making for him this week!!

Thanks for looking!

Happy Anniversary!

Hi everyone!

I am so excited  to tell you that I have joined the AAA Cards design team! You can meet my talented teammates and see their fabulous creations on the AAA Cards blog.

The theme for the next fortnight is RESIST and Happy Little Stampers is our sponsor. For my card, I used a stamp by Seth Apter/Impression Obsession to create my heat-embossed background. I blended distress inks over the top and then rubbed the excess ink from the image. I accidentally used a cloth that I had also used to rub off some perfect pearls on another project and some of the shimmer stuck to my background! Gotta love shimmer! What a happy accident!

Anyway, I cut out some hearts using a Memory Box die and stuck them in the middle of a rectangle that I had embossed on my base card. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Jasleen from hapilyevacrafter. She has some amazing creations on her blog, so please drop by her site!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

I’m here for you

Hi everyone!

I’ve been playing with Distress Oxide inks today – they are such fun!

I created a smooshed background that I used for the butterflies and then added a strip of stencilled cardstock that I’d sprayed with water repeatedly.

I’m entering this into the current Case This Sketch challenge.

Sunset Cityscape

Hi everyone!

I’ve had the Altenew Cityscape dies on my wishlist since they were released and I finally bought them last week. They are as fabulous as I’d hoped!

I used a photo of a city skyline at sunset to help me with the ink blending – I wanted to show how the setting sun was reflected in parts of the buildings. It took a little while to make this card as I had to be quite precise with the blending but I am quite happy with how it turned out in the end!

An owl and a pussycat!

Hi there!

The colours for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge are turquoise, lime green, yellow and white and here is my entry. It’s difficult to see in this photo, but I have blended Broken China and Twisted Citron distress inks and so the background looks much greener in real life!

All dies/stamps are by Avery Elle.

Thanks for stopping by!
