Technique – ink blending

Featuring ink blending

So special

Hi Everyone!

When I saw the colour combo for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (aqua, teal/turquoise, grey and metallic gold), I immediately started to think about an underwater scene. I decided to use the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge for my take.

I made a background using Peacock Feathers distress ink and then adhered a centrepiece panel created with the Memory Box Seaweed Collage die. I cut the Family of Fish (also by Memory Box) from a background made from Hickory Smoke distress oxide and adhered a little gold fish on top.

I used some older patterned paper for the additional panels in the sketch as my Tumbled Glass distress ink panel looked much darker than I wanted. To complete my card, I added a few gold metallic dots. The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.

Big Bundle Heart

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the current Case This Sketch challenge and the Color Throwdown Challenge where the combo is navy/dark blue, light blue, pink and white.

To create the base, I embossed three white strips of card with a Creative Expressions embossing folder and adhered them to my card base. I then cut the beautiful Memory Box Bundle Heart die from navy cardstock as well as two panels created using distress ink. I adhered the Bundle Heart die cut to another heart die before inlaying the hearts. To complete my card, I added my favourite Valentine’s sentiment by Reverse Confetti.

Thank for stopping by!

Shooting Star

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the current Case This Sketch challenge .

I masked off part of my card base and blended some Distress ink stripes. I then cut the Shooting Star die by Technique Tuesday from white glitter card and holographic card and adhered the outline to my card base before inlaying the stars. To complete my card, I added a few extra glitter stars around the main image and a sentiment from Hero Arts!

AAA Cards One Layer challenge with polar twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a one-layer CAS card; our optional twist is ‘polar animals! Our sponsor is Ink Road.

A few years ago, when I saw how all my sweet, cute stamps were piling up, untouched, I finally realised I’m not a ‘cutesy’ cardmaker…. I LOVE looking at what others come up with but in reality I wasn’t using all those cute images. But you know what it’s like, the new release would come out, I’d buy them before they went out of stock but by the time the stamps arrived, influencers were working with the next cute release and the whole cycle would start again. Seriously, I have so many otters, lions, flamingos, farm animals, sea creature and other critters that I just never touch! I’m very careful nowadays and rarely get swept along with the monthly release FOMO!

But of course, I can’t resist the odd cutesy purchase here and there! For today’s card, I pulled out the sweet Seymore Seal stamp by Impression Obsession. He’s a November purchase and I’m so pleased that I was able to use him for this challenge! After stamping him, I masked the image and then stamped an ice block from a My Favorite Things set. I masked that block and sponged a light layer of Distress Ink across the background. After I removed the masks I coloured the ice and Seymore using my Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is also by My Favorite Things.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Kylie, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Deck the halls… continued!

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the edge of your card; our optional twist is, rather intriguingly, time travel! Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

Life is crazy right now so I made a simple festive card using Penny Black stamps and my beloved Twinkling H2O paints.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Coni, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!
