Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

You are loved – a lot

Hi everyone!

There’s such a cute sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week. My card was really quick to make – in fact it took me much longer to find a heart die that was broadly similar in shape to the Simply Graphic leafy heart die that I wanted to use.

I ended up using a Memory Box heart die to cut some red cardstock and then adhered the leafy heart cut from gold glitter paper. The sentiment is by My Favorite Things.

Love never melts

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘chilled’ and our sponsor is CAS-ual Fridays.

For my card, I created a blended background with Distress and Altenew inks. I usually use Altenew inks for all my layered stamping, but I was very impressed with how well the ink blended when I created this background. I then cut some white glitter card using a die from a kit I got from Create- A-Smile in late 2016. Aren’t those snowmen cute? To finish off the card, I added a few die cut hearts plus a circle frame and sentiment from Poppystamps.

I’m also entering this into the current Color Throwdown challenge (light blue, kraft and white) and the Casology challenge (glimmer)

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by two Guest Designers – Milla from Mustesormi and Anita from Neet and Crafty. They both have some amazing creations, so please drop by their sites!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Seeing purple

Hi there!

The theme for this fortnight’s Less is More challenge is ‘purples’ – my favourite colour! How could I not participate?!

I used lots of different supplies/brands for my card. I started with a warm dark purple base which I embossed with a Next Level folder from We R Memory Keepers. I added some stardust Stickles for a bit of sparkle.

The butterfly is part of the new Memory Box release and the word die is by Mama Elephant.

I’m also entering this into the current Casology challenge (glimmer).

Just sitting here…

Happy Friyay everyone!

I love the link chain oval dies from the January My Favorite Things release and I could not believe it when they landed on my door mat this morning as I only ordered them yesterday lunch time. Thank you for your great service, Dies to Die For!

Anyway, I wanted to play with them straight away and so I inked up a bear from the sweet Polar Bear Pals set. I coloured him using my beloved Twinkling H2O paints and added some soft ink blending to the background. I lifted some ink using water, but unfortunately, you can’t really see that from my photos – I guess the blending was a little too soft. I added some shimmer to the insides of the chain frame using my Tonic Nuvo Aqua shimmer pen – I love that shimmer!

You can do hard things

Hello everyone!

So, if you read yesterday’s post, you may have already guessed that this card is another by-product from my first session playing with Perfect Pearls and Perfect Pearls medium!

I was practicing with some Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamps and the butterflies turned out so pretty, I just had to use them! I used the coordinating dies from Sizzix to cut them out so I had a pile of embellishments, all ready to go. I just love how the Sizzix dies always cut very closely to the stamped image, don’t you?

When I saw the theme for this week’s Casology challenge (encouragement), I thought a simply sentiment and butterfly would work well. I stamped a sentiment from a Dina Wakley using Lightning Black Brilliance ink and then adhered the butterfly using some foam pads.
