Best wishes to you

Hello everyone

There a fabulous bold colour palette over at the Color Throwdown challenge this week – purple, green, yellow and red.

It did take me a little while to decide how I was going to use the colours but in the end I chose the fabulous Penny Black potted plant die which I painted with my Altenew watercolours.

I stuck the image to a background I created with by smooshing some mustard seed distress ink onto a base card. (I painted the brown with some distress oxide ink once I worked out where I was going to adhere the coloured die cut).

To finish off the card, I added sentiment from Penny Black and some Nuvo drops to the centre of the flowers – but they are quite difficult to see in my photos.

I’m also entering this into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge (anything goes).

Sweetest Fluffles

Hello everyone!

Who remembers the wonderful Fluffles the Cat by Stampendous? Such a cute fun kitty! I still have all the wood-mounted Fluffles stamps I bought probably a decade ago and today I had fun reminiscing about the happy hours I used to spend at a couple of ‘local’ craft stores back in the day. I love how the internet has connected us all and we have so much more online choice nowadays. But I really miss those days in the craft stores.

Anyway, when I saw that the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge had a theme of ‘anything goes’ with Stampendous products, I immediately thought of my Fluffles stamps and decided to use one of them with the sketch from the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I was originally going to fussy cut Fluffles and put him on an action wobbler but in the end I decided on an ‘out of the box’ die cut instead.

I went through my backgrounds box and pulled out the remnants of a Hero Arts background that I created with Satin Pearl embossing powder and distress oxide inks last year and adhered it to my base card before adhering the Fluffles image. To finish off the card, I added a sentiment from My Favorite Things.

Sparkly Peacock

Happy Friyay everyone!

The theme for the current Blog Named Hero challenge is ‘sparkle and shine’. A fabulous excuse to get out the glitter paste, stickles and mirror card….. not that I need any excuse really!

I started by blending some distress ink though a Creative Expressions (That Special Touch) stencil. I then spread a generous layer of Nuvo glimmer paste over the inked background.

I used my go-to inks from Altenew for the Hero Arts Layering Peacock and cut some mirror card using a sentiment die from the March My Monthly Hero Kit. Love that font! Finally I added a few dots of stickles to the peacock’s tail – you can never have too much glitter can you?!

Hey there!

Hey there!

Well today is my last day as guest designer over at the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge. I’ve had such a fun August – many thanks to the wonderful team who have been so kind and supportive!

This week, the team has a fun sketch for you. I must say that when I first saw it, I was concerned that my take would end up being dominated by whatever I used for the grey panel and my card could end up not being CAS!

Luckily I remembered the wonderful Penny Black Wonky Squares die that I’ve had for a few months but haven’t used…. I cut it twice – once from white card and once from card that I had altered with some Paper Artsy infusions. I inlaid the coloured panels into the white frame and then cut a small section from the bottom of the panel to reflect the sketch. After adhering the panel to the base card, I cut a Waffle Flower sentiment die twice and inlaid the ‘Hey’ using the darker cardstock.

Quite a different card for me, but I think the end result looks quite CAS. Plus I have a card that I can easily send to a male friend!

The CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge team have created some wonderful cards – I do hope you can play along with us!

Lovecats

Hi there everyone!

I haven’t been able to spend much time in the craftroom recently but I have been able to make this card for my mum and dad’s anniversary yesterday.

I heat-embossed the Impression Obsessions lovecats stamp and then blended regular distress ink on top. I cut a heart from a separate piece of card using an Essentials by Ellen heart die and adhered it over the cat image using foam tape.

To finish off the card I added a sentiment from My Favourite Things and some hearts cut using a Memory Box die.

Belated Happy Anniversary to my lovely parents!

Always a good idea

Hi everyone!

It’s time for my next Crafts-U-Love Design Team post and today I challenged myself to use every single product that I was kindly sent for this month and keep ‘own supplies’ to a minimum. And look! I managed to create a CAS card too!

This month I received the ‘Always Flowers’ stamp set by Pinkfresh Studio and decided to use the largest floral image as my centre piece. After stamping the image, I painted it using some Nuvo Mica Mist that I had poured into a watercolour palette. I coloured the leaves with regular distress ink and used a Nuvo marker for the centres.

After stamping my sentiment, I applied just one spritz of mica mist over the whole card and added a thin layer of Nuvo glitter to the flower centres (as this glitter glue dries opaque, I made sure the layer was quite thin so you could still see the yellow of the centres).

Et voila! My CAS card!
