Christmas, New Year and Winter

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 1

Hello everyone!

Last year, I dedicated July to Christmas and reaped the benefits in November/December when my life got super busy and I had no time for cardmaking! I LOVED having a good supply of cards to send to all my friends. After all the challenges of 2020 to date, I have been REALLY looking forward to this July and LucieG’s Christmas in July 2020. Plus I have a nice break from work planned this month. Hurrah!

So, for Christmas in July Day 1, I pulled out the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Alicia Snowflake to cut a panel created with Distress Oxide inks. using the sketch from the current Case this Sketch challenge, I then embossed a panel using a Crafter’s Companion folder. Finally I added a sentiment from Mama Elephant and a few gems to complete my take.

Belated birthday berries

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with a couple of challenges – the Color Throwdown challenge (kraft, gold, green and white) and the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge!

I applied a layer of gold Cosmic Shimmer Luna paste to a kraft base.  Whilst it was drying, I cut the branch (Bright Rosa) and added a few white Nuvo drops to some berries. To complete my take, I added a Clearly Besotted sentiment.

I think I may have spent longer trying to photograph this card than I did making it! The Cosmic Shimmer is fabulous, but incredibly difficult to capture!

Winter berries

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with a couple of challenges – the Color Throwdown challenge (red, brown and white) and the Time-Out Challenge!

I used a couple of dies from Simply Graphic and coloured the berries using an Altenew alcohol marker. For the vase, I used an Impression Obsession die and adhered another die cut from the Simply Graphic die that I used in the bouquet.

Oh Christmas trees

Hi Everyone!

I’m playing along this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

I used a couple of dies from Creative Expressions plus a some rejected backgrounds I created using Colour Bursts a few months ago. Tim Holtz is right – never throw away that rejected background – it will always come in handy!.

Deck the halls… continued!

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the edge of your card; our optional twist is, rather intriguingly, time travel! Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

Life is crazy right now so I made a simple festive card using Penny Black stamps and my beloved Twinkling H2O paints.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Coni, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Thanks for stopping by!

Non-traditional Christmas wishes

Hi Everyone!

November has been a super-busy month for me and I can scarcely believe it’s December. I’m so grateful that I was able to grab some time in the craft room today! I decided to play along this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge but when I was halfway through my creation, I realised that I had used a couple of the colours from this week’s Color Throwdown challenge so I added some silver and pink snowflakes to cover all the colours in the combo (turquoise, green, pink and silver)!

I used an older stamp and die set by Marianne Designs and stamped and embossed the large Christmas sentiment with sparkle embossing powder before cutting it out with the coordinating die. I stamped the ‘wishes’ in silver ink and adhered the die cut on top of a little silver cotton before adding a few die cut snowflakes.

Thank for stopping by!
