Daisy, Daisy

Hi Everyone!

I’m on a bit of a cardmaking roll at the moment so I just had to enter challenges run by one of my favourite companies, Memory Box.

The theme for the May Outside the Box Challenge is ‘flowers’. Easy I thought to myself… until I discovered that I don’t actually have a lot of floral Memory Box dies…. tons of Poppystamps flower dies, but far fewer Memory Box! Anyway, I do have the Daisy Silhouette dies and seeing as I’ve just spent the last month battling daisies in my lawn, I thought they would be perfect for my entry.

I blended some Distress Oxides (Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone) and then lightly stencilled a brick background. I cut and coloured the daisies before adhering them to my base card and then added a sentiment from a Memory Box/Open Studio set. THEN I decided to add some ink splatters….. I was able to cover up the daisy heads and sentiments to add the green splatters. Ideally I would have added some splatters up the wall as well, but I didn’t want to risk getting ink on the flower heads so decided my green splatters were good enough!

AAA Cards Sixth Birthday

Hi there!

We are celebrating over at AAA Cards as our little challenge is six years old!  We’d love for you to join in and celebrate with us by creating a CAS birthday card. We haven’t got sponsors and a blog hop this year, but you could win a £20 gift card to a store of your choice!

For my birthday card, I pulled out my Simply Graphic dies and some panels I created with distress oxide inks and got to work! I’m also playing along with the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge – they have a fabulous colour combo this week.

The vase die is by My Favorite Things and the sentiment is by Memory Box.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Sofie who has some lovely cards on her Instagram feed!

Hope you can play along with us!

Find Your Happy

Hi Everyone!

Happy Saturday! Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge plus the Time Out Challenge where the theme is ‘free’!

I immediately thought of the ‘Beautiful You’ set from Stampin Up! for the Time Out Challenge. This image just screams freedom to me! I coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os and added it to a Basic Grey panel which I had cut using a My Favorite Things die. To complete my take, I added a sentiment from an older Simon Says Stamp set.

Yellow Leaves

Happy Friyay Everyone!

I took today off and just did fun stuff! Of course that meant spending time in my craft room. I decided to play along with the current Color Throwdown challenge (yellow, grey and white).

I used a Taylored Expressions masking stencil with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink to create a soft panel in the centre of my card. I then used a Simply Graphic die to cut a ink panel I made some time ago and adhered it to my base card. To complete my card, I added a Memory Box sentiment and a few glittery butterflies by Simon Says Stamp.

With love butterfly

Hi Everyone!

My crafty time has been compressed since the start of the year and I haven’t been able to play along with many challenges. Happily today, I had enough time to create a quick card and I decided to play along with the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches and combined it with the current Color Throwdown challenge (pink, yellow and blue).

I cut two panels I’d created from distress oxide inks with two dies from the Birch Press Design Sparkler butterfly die set. I then stamped a circle from the Essentials by Ellen set and applied some glitter paste through a Tim Holtz stencil to reflect the sketch. I adhered the butterfly and stamped a Clearly Besotted sentiment to complete my take for the challenges.

So special

Hi Everyone!

When I saw the colour combo for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (aqua, teal/turquoise, grey and metallic gold), I immediately started to think about an underwater scene. I decided to use the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge for my take.

I made a background using Peacock Feathers distress ink and then adhered a centrepiece panel created with the Memory Box Seaweed Collage die. I cut the Family of Fish (also by Memory Box) from a background made from Hickory Smoke distress oxide and adhered a little gold fish on top.

I used some older patterned paper for the additional panels in the sketch as my Tumbled Glass distress ink panel looked much darker than I wanted. To complete my card, I added a few gold metallic dots. The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.
