Cheery Mr Snowman

Hello everyone!

I’m so excited that one of my favourite challenges is having a DT call over the next couple of weeks. I love playing along at Freshly Made Sketches, so here is my take on their current sketch – and my entry for the DT call.

I had originally planned a one-layer background, but after creating a blended background with regular distress ink, I tore the front of the card when I was removing the masking tape. Argh! In the end, I cut out my panel and adhered it to another base card. Before adhering it, I applied some luna paste through a Tim Holtz stencil. Oh my! I love this paste so much – it is so sparkly!

I stamped, coloured and cut a cute snowman from the My Favorite Things Frosty Friends set and added that to the centre panel and finally added a small Clearly Besotted sentiment to finish off the card.

Day 15 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year.

The sponsor for Day 15 was Stamplorations. The inspiration tags were amazing and I was particularly drawn to the yellow and red tag created by Shery Russ – it is totally different from my usual colour palettes, and not traditionally Christmas – I think that’s why I just had to use it as my inspiration!

I don’t have many of their products yet, so I used a Simon Says Stamp sentiment die, some Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamps and a Cuttlebug embossing folder for my take.

Tribute to Melissa

Hello everyone

I was shocked and so very saddened to learn of the passing of my sweet AAA teammate and friend, Melissa Lane, on 2 October. She was such a kind-hearted and modest soul who was devoted to Jesus and her beloved family. My heart goes out to all of them at this terrible time.

Today my AAA Cards teammates have joined with STAMPlorations to celebrate Melissa’s artistic and creative talents. Melissa’s favourite colour was red and she loved butterflies and we’d like to invite you to join us in celebrating her life by creating a butterfly card in her memory.

Rest in peace my friend. You are so missed.

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight we want to see moonlight in your CAS creations. Uniko is our sponsor.

Last year, the talented Vicky Papaioannou demonstrated the super-cool ‘glowing moon’ technique and it quickly became one of my favourite techniques for this season.

However, I must confess it took me a few attempts and colour combos before I created a background I was happy with this week! In the end, I used purple regular distress inks, together with a little Antique Linen to create that glow. The witch stamp is by Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous.

And then I tore my card when I was removing the masking tape! Argh!! I certainly wasn’t going to abandon this little scene so I added a raised black frame. The sentiment is from an older set by Krumspring stamps.

Have the courage to imagine

Hello everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight we have a word to inspire your CAS creations – ‘imagine’. Winnie & Walter is our sponsor.

I decided to use a quote as the starting point for my male encouragement card. I knew I wanted to create a simple one layer card so I started with a background stamp to ‘ground’ my quote and image. Before stamping the background, I used a paper towel to remove some ink so that the pattern would be subtle.

I spent a little while choosing the image… I toyed with spaceships and hot air balloons but in the end I chose a vintage plane. All stamps are by Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous and I used regular distress ink and distress oxide.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by the super talented Izzy from Izzy Scrap as our Guest Designer. She has some beautiful creations – you must pay her a visit!

Glittery holly berries

 

Hi everyone!

I’ve been playing with more Christmas supplies that I bought in the January sales. I’ve really enjoyed Christmas in July and plan to continue it into August!

For this card I used a holly die from Penny Black and a Tim Holtz stencil. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

I coloured the leaves and berries using regular distress ink and used distress oxide to create the stencilled panel. To finish off the card, I added some Nuvo red gliiter drops. I really love how these dry in a beautiful dome! I’ve finally found a way of creating dots and easily adding them to my project when dry – I use waxy paper! I had previously used acetate and a clear block but it was so difficult to remove the dried dots! They comeoff the waxy paper very easily indeed!

I’m entering this into the current Color Throwdown challenge (red, green and grey), Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Christmas in July).
