Technique – Stamping

Yay, yay, yay! Birthday chick

Happy Saturday everyone!

It’s been a little while since I participated in a My Favorite Things challenge so I decided to dive back in and enter both the sketch and colour challenge with this card.

To create the centre panel, I smooshed MFT Berrylicious ink onto watercolour paper. The images are from the MFT Birthday Chicks stamp set – I’m glad I bought the matching dies, they made things MUCH easier (and quicker!).

I coloured the images with my beloved Twinkling H2O paints – the shimmer is amazing in real life – I’ve tried to capture it in my second photo.

I’m also entering this into the current Seize the Birthday challenge (anything goes).

Dreaming of Cherry Blossom Season – Part One

Hi everyone

After a snowy week, it’s starting to feel like spring is in the air and I’m ready to make some flowery cards! When I saw the colour palette for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (pink, grey and kraft), I immediately thought of cherry blossoms.

My card came together very quickly – I stamped an coloured an older image from Hero Arts with my Twinkling H2Os and then embossed a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp. After adhering the pieces to my grey base card, I added some enamel dots and a bit of bling!

I’m also entering this into the current Case This sketch challenge.

Bubble birthday

Hi everyone!

I have a LOT of birthdays in March, so I am busy replenishing my birthday cards! Here’s one that I made with the new Chunky Greetings set from Woodware. It reminds me so much of the bubble writing that I used to do at school!

I stamped, embossed and coloured the greeting using Distress Oxide inks and then added a little Simply Graphic die to complete the card. I actually added the bow from another present die as I felt the die cut needed a little more height. I added a glitter dot to hide the join.

I’m entering this card into the current Case this Sketch challenge.

Purple and Brown….

Hi everyone!

This week’s Colour Throwdown challenge has a beautiful palette – light purple, dark purple, beige/off white and brown. But I liked it so much, I was kind of overwhelmed. Do you ever feel like that? I didn’t feel like any of the designs I thought of would do it justice. So I was stuck…..

Then today, a whole load of Altenew inspiration appeared in my Instagram feed and I decided to play with the Garden Treasure set in the hopes I could make it work with the combo. I think this is the first time with an Altenew layering stamp that I haven’t used different shades of the same colour! I think I quite like that beige base for the flower.

Anyway, I used Altenew inks for the flower and leaf and stuck them to a base I’d created using a Spellbinders embossing folder. The sentiment is also from Altenew. Once the card was assembled, I felt it needed a little something extra so I added a few glittery die cuts from a Simply Graphic die.

Window on Love

Happy Saturday people!

Today is a great day as I was finally able to play with the wonderful Hero Arts Window on Love confetti die! I have wanted this for soooooo long and snapped it up when Seven Hills Crafts got it in this week!

I decided to use it to play along with the current Twofer challenge (hearts).

For the first card, I channelled my inner Laura Fadora and used the wonderful ‘Press ‘n Seal’ technique that she demonstrated a few weeks ago. Thanks for the inspiration Laura, I LOVE this technique. It did take AGES to apply foam to the back of the confetti pieces, but it was totally worth it! Once I had stuck all the little die cut images to the base card, I embossed a sentiment (from an older Hero Arts set) on vellum and stuck it onto the card.

For my second card, I used just a few of the die cut hearts to create a little strip on my CAS card. The sentiment is also from an older Hero Arts stamp set.

Another favourite hobby

Hi everyone!

It’s been a gorgeous afternoon here, makes me want to get out in the garden again! Alas, spring is not really springing as we have another colder snap heading our way.

Still, when I saw the Time Out challenge theme (hobbies), I thought of gardening. Well obviously I could have chosen crafting, but I wanted to celebrate another hobby. If time permits, I may enter again with a crafty card!

Anyway, for this CAS card, I coloured a Simon Says Stamp image with my Twinkling H2Os – it was wonderfully shimmery in the gorgeous sunlight this afternoon, but so hard to capture on camera!

I was intending to follow the challenge’s optional twist of a one layer card, but I’ve added a small bit of bling – so not sure that it still counts as a one layer card?

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – anything goes.
