Cranberry Cardinals

Hello again everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! The palette this week is kraft, cream and cranberry.

I immediately thought of a winter card when I saw the colour combo so I decided to play along with the CAS Christmas card challenge as well because the challenge theme this month is Christmas birds.

I used a older Memory Box die (Hadyn Twigs) and the cardinals from the Simon Says Stamp Chisholm wreath set. I used Fired Brick and Barn Door distress ink to colour the cardinals. They still look more red than cranberry in this photo though!

I added lots of Nuvo drops and a Hero Arts sentiment to complete my take.

Woodland Pumpkin

Hello again everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! The palette this week is orange, kraft and black – perfect for this time of year!

So with orange in the combo, I just HAD to include a pumpkin in my card! I chose a stamp from my new Penny Black Hello Pumpkin set and blended some distress inks to quickly colour the pumpkin. I then lifted some ink with water and added some orange and kraft paint in places.

I chose a piece of distressed black paper as my base and adhered the Simon Says Stamp Woodland Rectangular Frame which I had cut twice to extend (the join is hidden by the pumpkin). I heat embossed the Hero Arts sentiment and then adhered the pumpkin and some die cut swirls to complete my card.

Autumn Monterey Vine

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge.

I cut my card base using he cool Modern Circle Cutout from Simon Says Stamp. I bought this as a real bargain a year or so ago and I’m so happy to be using it at last. I adhered a piece of Basic Grey paper behind the die cut. I then coloured the beautiful Poppystamps Monterey Vine die using regular distress inks and adhered it to my card. Finally I stamped a Hero Arts sentiment to complete my take.

A sketch and colour challenge

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the challenge at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge – every now and again they have a combined sketch and colour challenge and although it’s quite restrictive, I think that makes for a real challenge! Plus it’s so interesting to see what everyone comes up with and see how different every entry is!

First I sponged some Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink to two corners of my card base. I die cut a white panel using a Simply Graphic dotty die and then adhered it to my cardbase. I used Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks for my centre panel and adhered the Viva Tree by Poppystamps. The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

Whimsy Halloween

Happy Friyay Everyone!

It’s turned rather autumnal here, so I decided it was finally time to play along with the Memory Box / Outside the Box challenge where the theme is Haunted Halloween!

I thought I didn’t have any Memory Box Halloween dies in my collection, but happily I was wrong – I did picked up the Whimsy Ghost, Whimsy Cat and Whimsy Bat in 2017! I paired them with a Poppystamps die cut sentiment for my take on the challenge theme.

I created the background using my brand new Crackling Campfire distress oxide ink – you know, when I first saw it, I didn’t think I needed it, but I found it at a great price online here in the UK and decided to get it after all. I’m so glad I did, it’s a lovely orange! I’ve used it with Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves here – love that combo!

Christmas Card Throwdown Guest Designer

Hello everyone!

During Christmas in July, I discovered a new-to-me challenge, the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! I love the idea of creating one Christmas card each week and hope to continue to play along throughout the year!

I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for their current colour challenge; this month’s palette is orange, green and gold.

What an interesting combo for festive cards! I actually worked with a similar palette during Christmas in July. I liked the idea of having a green background again but I wanted to switch it up a bit this time….

So, I created a blended background using Spiced Marmalade and Carved Pumpkin distress inks and a Taylored Expressions oval stencil.  I splattered and then lifted some water droplets before using a Uniko stencil with some green Nuvo embellishment mousse – love the shimmer from this paste!

I added a gold Impression Obsession deer and a Memory Box sentiment to complete my card.

The Design Team have some amazing inspiration over on the challenge blog – you must check it out! Hope you can play along with the challenge – I can’t wait to see how this palette is used!
