Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Peony Delight

Hi Everyone!

Happy Saturday! It’s raining here today which is a great excuse to get crafty and ignore absolutely all my chores, not just the garden ones! I decided to play along with the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and combine it with the current Color Throwdown challenge (red, orange and green).

I used a couple of older dies from Poppystamps releases in 2016 – the Peony Delight die (coloured with Twinkling H2Os) and the Daphne Butterfly (cut from vellum). The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

I’m also adding this to the June Poppystamps challenge where the theme is ‘clean and simple’.

Thank for stopping by!

With Love Bird

Hello Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s June already can you? Sometimes the days are very slow, but actually the weeks seem to fly by!

I had a little bit of spare time today so decided to play along with the current Color Throwdown challenge (turquoise, black and white) and the fabulous sketch over at CAS Colours and Sketches.

I used a bird die from My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather set and paired it with a MFT rose die and a Simply Graphic branch die. The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.

Grateful die cuts

Hi Everyone!

Happy Sunday! Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge !

Isn’t it a fun sketch? I paired some Simply Graphic dies with a few sentiments by My Favorite Things for my take. Can you believe that I actually used a ‘clear up’ background that I created when clearing up leftover ink after getting inky last week! Love how I was able to get die cuts with differing colours!

Thank for stopping by!

Winged Things

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with another challenge by a favourite company, Poppystamps.

The theme for the May Poppystamps Challenge is ‘winged things’, so I went through all my butterfly dies before finally settling on the Emelia Butterfly trio set. I cut the butterflies from an ink blended panel I created a few weeks ago and added them to a card base I created from another inked background panel and a background die from Frantic Stamper. I added a sentiment by Clearly Besotted to complete my card.

Daisy, Daisy

Hi Everyone!

I’m on a bit of a cardmaking roll at the moment so I just had to enter challenges run by one of my favourite companies, Memory Box.

The theme for the May Outside the Box Challenge is ‘flowers’. Easy I thought to myself… until I discovered that I don’t actually have a lot of floral Memory Box dies…. tons of Poppystamps flower dies, but far fewer Memory Box! Anyway, I do have the Daisy Silhouette dies and seeing as I’ve just spent the last month battling daisies in my lawn, I thought they would be perfect for my entry.

I blended some Distress Oxides (Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone) and then lightly stencilled a brick background. I cut and coloured the daisies before adhering them to my base card and then added a sentiment from a Memory Box/Open Studio set. THEN I decided to add some ink splatters….. I was able to cover up the daisy heads and sentiments to add the green splatters. Ideally I would have added some splatters up the wall as well, but I didn’t want to risk getting ink on the flower heads so decided my green splatters were good enough!

Thank for stopping by!
