Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Happy Heart Day 2021

Happy Heart Day everyone!

I’m back and playing along with two challenges with this card today – the CAS on Friday challenge where the theme is ‘love’ and the Addicted to CAS Challenge where the theme is ‘Hearts’.

First of all I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the pretty Potted Passion stamp by Penny Black, Then I started on the background. I was originally planning to have an ink-blended circle in the centre but BOTH of my circle stencils have gone AWOL. So annoying! Instead, I decided to die cut a frame using the Penny Black Happy Heart Day Lovely Border dies. These are rectangular, but I just moved the die and partically cut it twice to create a square which I felt would give me more space for that lovely bold sentiment.

I adhered some patterned paper that was already on my table – I was so chuffed that it matched the colours of the leaves of my image so beautifully! I then stamped the sentiment – this is one of my absolute favourites! It’s from a 2006 Stampendous set and has really stood the test of time.

Finally I adhered the image and a few die cut hearts to complete my card.

Valentines Hearts

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge (hearts) and a new to me challenge, the Cut it Up challenge (all you need is love).

I cut the Simon Says Stamp Stacked Hearts die twice and adhered them to my card base. I then cut the Memory Box Clementine Heart and coloured it with distress inks. I adhered the heart to a ‘plain’ heart which I’d also dusted with distress ink. I stamped a Taylored Expressions sentiment in the centre and added a few gems to complete my card.

Happy Heart Vine

Happy Friyay crafty people!

Today was the day that my new Honey Bees Heart Vine finally arrived! I have been stalking the Dies to Die For website since the influencers shared this die on Instagram  in early January! Then Tracy at DTDF had such a tussle to extract her package from Customs! As soon as that release went live, I was there! And it was totally worth the wait. I had to use it right away!

I’m playing along with two challenges with this card the Color Throwdown (pink, red, black and white) and the sketch for the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. I must confess I was a bit stumped when I saw the sketch and thought I’d probably end up moving the centred oval or turning the card to portrait. But suddenly it all started to come together and I ended up following the sketch quite faithfully!

I used both dies in the vine set, cutting one from vellum and one from red cardstock. I blended an oval panel using a Taylored Expressions panel and adhered the die cut. To complete my card, I added a few tiny white hearts and a wonderful sentiment by Penny Black.

Hello Prima Flowers

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I went retro today and paired an older Memory Box die (Jasper Leaves) with some of my gazillion Prima Flowers. Please tell me I’m not the only crafter who still has a ton of these!

I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and a few Nuvo drops to complete my card.

AAA Cards One Corner challenge with create a scene twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using one corner of your card base only. Our optional twist for this challenge is ‘create a scene’!

I had fun with this one! As the challenge spans Valentine’s Day, I knew I wanted to include that in some way as well as creating a scene. Inspired by this cute Frantic Stampers kitties die, I used Funky Fossil Designs’ Dry Stonewall stencil for the kitties to sit on and then softly blended some distress ink to create the moonlit sky. To complete my card, I added a few die cut hearts and my favourite Reverse Confetti sentiment – which I use every February without fail!

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Chrissie – who has some amazing CAS inspiration on her blog – you must check it out!!

Hope you can play along with us!

Colourful Cottage Stem

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! They have a wonderful pastel colour palette this week – pink, lavender, yellow and mint green!

I coloured the older Simon Says Stamp Cottage Stem die using Distress Oxide inks and a little coloured pencil for extra detail.

As I felt that pink and yellow were slightly underrepresented, I stencilled a little of both colours using a Funky Fossil Designs stencil, taking care not to overlap and create orange!

To complete my card, I added a few sequins and a Mama Elephant sentiment.
