Christmas, New Year and Winter

Day 22 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 22 was Stamplorations. Linda Walmsley was my inspiration for this tag – I loved how she created her tag on a kraft base!

As I don’t have any festive stamps by Stamplorations, I used one of my little-used Penny Black sets. Don’t know why it doesn’t seem to get much use – don’t you think the tree is fabulous? I didn’t have any red embossing powder for the sentiment so I decided to try my new red Delicata ink. Just look at that fabulous shimmer! Love these inks! I am so happy they are producing more colours!

Day 21 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 21 was Uniko Stamps. I don’t have many Uniko products, but I do have my eye on some of their fabulous stamp sets!

As I don’t have any Uniko Christmas products, I used stamps from Clearly Besotted and Penny Black for my take on Jane Taylor’s cute tag! I love how she put a wreath behind the tree – such a great design!

Day 20 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 20 was Waffle Flower Crafts. I was so shocked to discover that I don’t appear to have any Christmas sets from Waffle Flower – I’m sure I have and they are just hiding somewhere in my craft room! As I decided at the start of the challenge that I was going to use my festive stamps rather than repurpose my non-festive sets, I turned to my Ellen Hutson stamps for my take on Lindsey M-P’s cute stocking tag!

I enjoyed working with non-traditional colours so much yesterday, I turned to some more non-traditional colours again today!

I stamped and embossed the stocking before masking it off and smooshing some abandoned coral distress ink onto the background. When I removed the mask, some ink had bled through it, but I simply lifted it off using a bit of water. Once it was dry, I coloured the stocking using my Twinkling H2O paints before stamping a sentiment from the same Essentials by Ellen set.

Day 19 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 19 was Technique Tuesday – they have some wonderful stamps and dies! I particularly love some of their sentiment sets and so I decided to use one of my favourite sentiments from an older TT set that I haven’t used for quite a while.

I loved Jill Dewey Hawkins’ pink/mint tag – so simple but effective and this is my take. It was fun to create with non-traditional colours!

Silver snowflakes

Happy Saturday!

The colour combination for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge is one of my favourite festive combos – blues and silver.

I decided to use the heat embossed background technique that I first tried as part of Online Card Classes’ Merry Making class last month. This time, I created a base using some older Stampendous embossing powder and then stamped and embossed the beautiful Hero Arts snowflake background. I love this technique and still can’t believe how the powder from the stamped image just melts into the background to create a completely smooth base!

I wanted to add a die cut sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, but it didn’t stand out very well against the background so I added a vellum oval – I love how you can still see those beautiful embossed snowflakes through it!  To finish off the card, I added some Lawn Fawn snowflakes.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – Happy Holidays.

Day 18 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

I was so pleased to see that the Day 18 sponsor was Avery Elle. Yay! One of my favourite companies! I loved Tracey’s die cut wreath and used her tag as my inspiration.

Whilst I have the wreath stamp set, I don’t have the dies so I ended up creating a circular tag. I coloured the image using my Twinkling H2O paints and stuck it to a brown base that I’d cut using a Spellbinders die.
