Christmas, New Year and Winter

Sparkle and Shine

Hi everyone!

I’m popping in with a super quick card that I made for the current Memory Box challenge – Holiday Sparkle and Shine.

I chose two Memory Box dies that I bought at Alexandra Palace in September – the older Alpine Snowflake die plus a 2018 sentiment die – the Merry Christmas Cheshire Script die.

All my Christmas cards are made, written and sent but I think I may well be using these designs for some mass-produced cards next year!

Merry Christmas die cutting

Hello Everyone!

While we aren’t sharing any DT creations over at the Crafts-u-Love Facebook page this month, I did receive a DT package which included the fabulous Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas dies. I have actually had my own set of dies in my stash for AGES and this was the impetus I needed to actually use them! So I got to work using the festive palette from this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (red, green, white and kraft).

The holly is cut from an old background that I created with distress oxide inks a while back and I added some red Nuvo glitter drops for the berries.

To finish off the card, I used an older Tim Holtz sentiment die (Retro Merry Christmas). And yes, I left the dot of the ‘i’ off ON PURPOSE! Honest! It’s quite a large dot and I just didn’t like the look of it next to the ‘Merry’!

Now, as I mentioned, I already have the Mixed Media Christmas die set so I am going to give away the new set that Crafts-U-Love sent me. Just head over to my Instagram account to find out more!

Snowflakes all around

Hello Everyone!

So my Christmas cards are all written/sent, but that doesn’t mean my festive supplies are getting put away just yet! Here’s the card I made for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The DT call is still ongoing, so I’m throwing my hat into the ring with this one as well and keeping my fingers crossed!

I used a great 3D embossing folder from Crafter’s Companions – Sparling Snowflake – to create my centre panel. I love how this folder embosses snowflakes with differing depths. Quite unique I think! I haven’t got any other folders like this! Some snowflakes are really raised but others are very subtle. So clever!

Anyway, I added the Alicia snowflake die cut by Simon Says Stamp and stamped a small sentiment from Clearly Besotted.

To finish off the card, I added a few Nuvo glitter drops.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge where the theme is die cutting.

O Christmas Tree

Hello everyone!

I seriously cannot believe how fast 2018 has flown by, can you? All my favourite challenges are starting to take their festive breaks, including the Color Throwdown challenge. The palette for their last challenge of the year is a classic Christmas combo – green, red, white and kraft.

I used a fabulous tree die from Simply Graphic and cut it several times in kraft and once in green glitter card and adhered all the die cuts to the kraft card base.

I added a red glitter die cut sentiment from Savvy Stamps and a small dot of Nuvo glitter drops to finish off the card.

Mixed winter berries

Hello There!

There’s a cool colour combo over at the Color Throwdown this week – coral, red, green and grey. Not necessarily the most traditional festive combo, but I knew I wanted to create a festive card with them, so I pulled out an older Woodware stamp and got to work.

I used a light grey card base to stamp the image in green ink; I added some clear embossing powder on top to give the image a little more ‘body’. Then I coloured each dot using my prismacolor pencils before I added some Nuvo Jewel drops on top. To finish off the card I added a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp/Gina K Stamptember collaboration set.
