Christmas, New Year and Winter

Prestigious deer

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m playing along this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

I created an ink-blended panel with some distress oxide inks and then stamped the gorgeous Impression Obsession Vintage tree background. Oh how I love this stamp – I wanted it so much last Christmas but couldn’t find it anywhere – I actually ended up buying it at Simon Says Create in March – I KNEW I’d use it this Christmas!

I cut the fabulous Penny Black Prestige die from glitter card and adhered it to a circle of vellum.

I couldn’t decide where to place my sentiment so in the end I decided to leave it blank. I’ll probably add a sentiment strip before I send it but I’m not completely sure about that!

Geometric Tree

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card with as much white space as possible; our optional twist is ‘geometric’. Our sponsor is Uniko.

I always seem to use triangles for geometric challenges and as you can see, this time is no exception! I stamped and embossed an image from the Simon Says Stamp Festive Trees set and then coloured the triangles with my Twinkling H2o paints. The sentiment (which I also embossed) is by Mama Elephant.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Emily Shroom, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Snow-one else like you

Hi Everyone!

I rarely play along with the My Favorite Things sketch challenge. Not sure why.. maybe because it rarely pops up in my IG feed… maybe because whenever I see the sketch, I rarely have MFT product that ‘fits’ the sketch.

Anyway, this time the stars aligned and the sketch popped up on my feed and I immediately thought that one of the cute snowmen from the Frosty Friends set would work perfectly.

First, I created my background panel with the Snow Flurry stencil and Cosmic Shimmer Luna paste – look at that sparkle! I coloured the snowman using my Twinkling H2O paints and then started to assemble my card.

I used the colours from this week’s CAS Colours and Sketches but as I felt it needed a bit more red and blue, I die cut some little hearts and added them to my card.

Faux Metal Etching

Hi Everyone!

I’ve been itching to play with the faux metal etching technique that Jennifer McGuire demonstrated a few weeks ago and today was the day! I used some silver matte mirror card and the Simon Says Stamp Brushed Branches background stamp. What a fun technique – but so very difficult to get a decent photo.

I used the sketch from the current Inspire Create Challenges and added a die cut sentiment and leaves (also by Simon Says Stamp).

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge where the theme is Autumn.

Thanks for stopping by!

Quirky Forest

Hi Everyone!

I’m playing along with the current colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. This week, we have rose, slate and mint – what a beautiful combo!

I’ve been hunting for quirky tree dies for quite a while now and as soon as I saw the new tree die set from Marianne Designs, I knew I had to have them! I created a few background panels using Distress Oxide inks and sprays and cut out the trees. I then dry embossed a smaller white panel using a Taylored Expressions embossing folder and adhered the trees before sticking the whole panel to my card base. I added a Sugar Pea Designs sentiment and some stickles to complete my card.

Deer Family

Hello!

I’m here with my last Crafts-U-Love DT post . It’s been a fun 15 months or so! Plus, I got to support one of the few bricks and mortar stores that I know of. I love internet shopping, but nothing beats seeing product in real life, does it. I love visiting craft stores when I can and it makes me sad to think that when I started crafting over a decade ago, there were four amazing stores within an hours’ drive of me. Only one, Crafts-U-Love, remains nowadays….

Anyway, as you may recall, this month, I received a couple of products by Marianne Design, the Tiny’s Deer Family die set* and the Classic Label die* . You can see what I made for my first post this month here.

I started by using the label die to create a grey die-cut panel. I simply ensured that my cutting plates weren’t aligned so that I only cut through part of the label die. I then lined up the die and cut part of it a second time from the opposite end of my grey cardstock to create a rectangular panel with that gorgeous die cut section on two sides. I brushed the edges with Distress Oxide Milled Lavender ink – difficult to see in my photos, but I promise you, it’s much easier to see in real life!

I then cut the little deer family from white cardstock and coloured them with various distress inks.

I stuck the deer to my rectangular base, adhered it to a card base and stamped a sentiment from the Julie Hickey Designs Essential Christmas Sentiments set  to finish off my card.
