Christmas, New Year and Winter

Winter arrangement

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using products from the new Penny Black release called Hello Winter!

I lightly applied spun sugar distress ink to create a focal point and then die cut the two stems from the Frosted Greens die set (51-710). I coloured them with different shades of distress ink and then lifted any green ink from the berries using water. I adhered the stems to my card base and added a container cut from pearlescent silver card (container is from the Hanging Planters die set, 51-501). Finally I stamped a sentiment from the When Snow Falls stamp set (30-881)

Pinecone Bundle

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

I cut and coloured the Memory Box Smooth Pinecones and Antique Pine label dies. I snipped off the label section of the die so that I had two separate pine branches. I adhered a couple of patterned paper strips to my card base before arranging my die cuts on top. Finally I added a Mama Elephant sentiment and a few pearls.

Snowflake medallion bauble

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous combo of white, gold and blue.

Last weekend, I rediscovered eBay and managed to snag a few great deals! I had been wanting the Hero Arts Snowflake Medallion die since I saw it last year and so I was very pleased to finally get hold of it! I had to use it straight away with this card – I cut some of my brand new Simon Says Stamp white glitter card, although it’s pretty difficult to photograph the shimmer. Anyway, I added it to a circle that I’d covered with Prize Ribbon/Chipped Sapphire distress oxide and added a glittery gold chain using a die from teh Hero Arts Joy Ornament. Finally I added a sentiment from Hunkydory/Moonstone.

Pinecone Plethora Trauma

Greetings and happy Saturday friends

Today I have to report that the craftroom was the scene of a Great Trauma. The savage destruction of a beloved embossing folder, the Pinecone Plethora by Gemini. It got mangled in my die cutting machine and the hinges split apart.  I am still now sure how it could have happened… I think I was trying to angle it a little too sharply and well, its demise was the result…. At least my Gemini Junior survived I suppose. But unfortunately I can seem to fashion an at home repair… Does anyone have any suggestions… or do you know where I might be able to locate a replacement? Google tells me that they are only to be found in a store in the Philippines!

At least I managed to create something with it – my entry for the sketch challenge at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

I blended various distress inks and then embossed the background before lifting some ink from the berries. I then added a sentiment from My Favorite Things to complete my entry.

Curled Holly branch

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.

It’s a fun festive palette so I decided to try out a new-to-me colouring technique using alcohol markers to colour the fabulous new Memory Box Curled Holly Branch die. I think I still prefer using my distress inks to colour die cuts but I’m definitely going to practice this technique a little more.

The sentiment is by My Favorite Things.

Wintery Village Pond

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using Penny Black dies.

Following the sketch, I cut the Geometric Circles background die (51-644) and snipped it in half so I could create a longer background panel – I knew I could hide the gap with the other layers. Next I used a die from the Antique Frame set (51-397) to cut some navy card and adhered it on top of the background die – once again I had o cut this in half so I could extend it across the width of my card base. I then adhered a purple circle die cut on top, hiding the gap in the navy strip. I cut the village and pond from the winter village set (51-396) and adhered them to the circle. I added a star from the Christmas Wonderland set (51-562), cut from glitter card (which I also used for the pond!).
