Christmas, New Year and Winter

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 15

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 15 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge. When I first saw the combo of aqua, yellow, purple and coral, I felt quite stumped as I just couldn’t think of a way of using them in a festive card.

Then, this morning inspiration struck (phew!). I die cut the twinkling lights image from a Studio Light set from gold card, snipped off the individual lights and replaced them with lights in the challenge colours.

To complete my card, I added a Memory Box sentiment.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 14

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 14 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

As soon as I saw this sketch, I thought of my patterned paper mountain and knew I’d be dipping into it for all the panels and I ended up using my Bo Bunny 6×6 paper pads. The Snowman is an old wood mounted stamp by Funstamps – I love this snowman, he stamps beautifully and is so easy to fussy cut.

To complete my card I used a sentiment from a My Favorite Things set.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 13

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 13 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in The Paper Players colour challenge.

I’ve noticed that I often use blue/aqua on my festive card backgrounds and I was determined that I wouldn’t do that this time! Instead, I stencilled some Nuvo Moonstone glitter paste onto my card base. While that was drying, I stamped the fabulous Wispy Trees by The Stamp Market using a couple of distress oxide inks and cut them using the coordinating dies.

After arranging a little forest, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant and applied a layer of a Wink of Stella to the bottom section of my card, although that doesn’t show up at all in my photos!!

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 12

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 12 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Christmas Card Throwdown colour challenge.

So I’ve been trying the inked embossing folder technique for YEARS and I’ve never been happy with the outcome… until today! I FINALLY managed to get a level of coverage that I liked using distress oxide ink and a brayer. I forsee more of this in my crafty future now! The embossing folder is Snowy Forest by Memory Box and I also used the birds from the Delicate Pine Frame die set. The sentiment is by Creative Expressions.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 11

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 11 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Just Add Ink sketch challenge.

I embossed a white panel using a 3D holly embossing folder by Creative Expressions before adhering it to my card base. I then cut a section of brown paper from my patterned paper mountain but decided that it needed a little something more so I stamped a My Favorite Things background stamp using versamark ink – I’m pleased with how this turned out, a subtle bit of interest.

I coloured the Memory Box Holly Branch die cut with distress ink before adding a My Favorite Things sentiment to complete my card.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 10

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 10 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge using products sent to me by Penny Black.

First of all, I have to congratulate the CTD team for hitting 700 challenges! What an amazing achievement! This is one of my favourite challenges and I’m so happy I discovered it back in July 2016! I entered challenge 403 when I was new to sharing my work online and didn’t even have this blog!

The palette this week is orange, yellow, kraft and brown. Hmm, feels more autumnal than festive, doesn’t it…. but let’s see what I can do.

I decided make a slimline card using the Slimline Medley die set (51-718) which I cut from white cardstock. As I wanted some shading in each of the circular windows, I sponged my card base using Vintage Photo distress oxide and adhered the frame section using foam tape. I then cut the beautiful Berries die (51-712) three times and coloured with distress inks before adhering in place.

Finally I added a sentiment from the Hearts Come Home mini set (30-849).

I thought my card ended up looking more autumnal than I hoped and went back to add a few stickles to try to make it a little more festive, not sure if that really did the trick though!
