Dear Daffodils

Hello everyone!

Happy Friyay! As sad as I am that the festive season is over, I really enjoyed making a spring birthday card today.

As soon as I saw the colour palette for the first Color Throwdown Challenge (yellow, green, black and white), I knew I had to do something flowery! This coincided with the arrival of my Clearly Besotted order and I could not wait to inck up the Spring Daffodils stamp. I coloured them using my Twinkling H2O paints and then adhered the image to a smooshed background I created some time ago using distress oxide inks. And I finally used the My Favorite Things label die which I have had for ages but which I haven’t used….

I added a Brushed Sentiment also by Clearly Besotted and a few Nuvo glitter drops to finish off my card.

New Year Party

Hi everyone!

It’s been a very long time since I played along with a My Favorite Things sketch challenge. Not sure why as I do love a sketch challenge!

Anyway, I saw this week’s challenge pop up on Instagram and realised that as I had the Gift Box Cover Up die, I could easily play along! Sticking with my current New Year’s obsession THEME I created a background using distress oxide inks and the MFT firework stamps. I have had these stamps for a while and this is the first time I’ve used them. Best layering firework stamps ever! The polymer is trimmed to a point in one place on each stamp to make it really easy to line up the stamps. I’ve bought a few firework stamp sets over the years, and most of them have been a bit disappointing (probably user error!) but this set has to be my favourite now!

Anyway, after stamping the background, I die cut the Die-versions Party Crowd from black glitter paper, cut out the figures I wanted to use and stuck them to my base card to create an outside/balcony scene before adhering the frame using funky foam.

Finally, I added a sentiment from my favourite/most used Simon Says Stamp Holiday Words on a Line die set to complete my card.

Merry Christmas die cutting

Hello Everyone!

While we aren’t sharing any DT creations over at the Crafts-u-Love Facebook page this month, I did receive a DT package which included the fabulous Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas dies. I have actually had my own set of dies in my stash for AGES and this was the impetus I needed to actually use them! So I got to work using the festive palette from this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (red, green, white and kraft).

The holly is cut from an old background that I created with distress oxide inks a while back and I added some red Nuvo glitter drops for the berries.

To finish off the card, I used an older Tim Holtz sentiment die (Retro Merry Christmas). And yes, I left the dot of the ‘i’ off ON PURPOSE! Honest! It’s quite a large dot and I just didn’t like the look of it next to the ‘Merry’!

Now, as I mentioned, I already have the Mixed Media Christmas die set so I am going to give away the new set that Crafts-U-Love sent me. Just head over to my Instagram account to find out more!

Cheery Mr Snowman

Hello everyone!

I’m so excited that one of my favourite challenges is having a DT call over the next couple of weeks. I love playing along at Freshly Made Sketches, so here is my take on their current sketch – and my entry for the DT call.

I had originally planned a one-layer background, but after creating a blended background with regular distress ink, I tore the front of the card when I was removing the masking tape. Argh! In the end, I cut out my panel and adhered it to another base card. Before adhering it, I applied some luna paste through a Tim Holtz stencil. Oh my! I love this paste so much – it is so sparkly!

I stamped, coloured and cut a cute snowman from the My Favorite Things Frosty Friends set and added that to the centre panel and finally added a small Clearly Besotted sentiment to finish off the card.

Advice from a Snowman

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches – it’s a fabulous sketch and perfect for quick and easy cards.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use the fabulous new Snowman Advice stamp by Newton’s Nook. I thought I could pair it with some snowman patterned paper, if I had some…. so I went to my paper mountain and found at least SIX different snowman designs! Honestly! SIX!!!

I just had to choose a Basic Grey design. Isn’t it cute? I miss Basic Grey so much. I have many fond memories of being in the Craft Barn in Lingfield back in the day, choosing 12×12 sheets from their new releases…. at least I still have my own Basic Grey mini paper mountain in my craft room!

Anyway, onto the card. I embossed the wording and then blended Altenew and distress inks over it, before wiping the excess from the embossing.

I cut a rectangle of patterned paper and adhered both to my card base. Super quick and simple! I may use this design for some of the Christmas cards I have left to make!

Thanks for stopping by!
