Christmas in July 2020 – Bonus Day

Hello All!

Well it’s the early hours of the first day of August! I can’t believe Christmas in July is over – I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge I set myself and I know I will be grateful to have all these cards in November when I will need them! I’ll carry on creating Christmas cards quite frequently too, at least I hope I will!

Anyway, as I enjoyed myself so much, I carried on with my Christmas crafting during 31 July so I’m calling this one my Bonus Christmas in July card!

I’m playing along with one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown challenge. I thought this week’s colour palette (black, white and terracotta) would be perfect for a reindeer scene and this is what I came up with. I used dies by Memory Box, Taylored Expressions and Penny Black. I created a little interest to the night sky by applying some transparent texture paste through a stencil. First time using that and I like it! Very subtle but also nicely glossy in real life!

To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 28

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 28 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the Jingle Bells challenge – they have an amazing colourful inspiration photo for their challenge and I was particularly drawn to the garland on the fireplace which I tried to replicate on my tree using mini pompoms I bought during a trip to the US last year.

The tree is an older one called Tannenbaum by Penny Black and I used a sentiment from a Hero Arts set.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 24

Happy Friyay!

Welcome to Day 24 of Christmas in July! I didn’t have much time to craft today so I created a very quick and simple card using the beautiful Christmas Wonderland die by Penny Black. I used a stencilled background I created sometime ago – so grateful I didn’t throw it out when I didn’t use it on a project! The sentiment is from a set by Hero Arts.

I’m entering this into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge where the theme is either nature or anything goes.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 23

Hello All!

Welcome to Day 23 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown challenge. This week’s colour palette (orange, green and yellow) is not a typical festive palette but I made it work using my new Birch Press Design Radiant Ornament die set. I added a layer of holographic card behind the ornament – love the shimmery effect!

Looking at the card now, I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the green distress inks!

To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Simon Says Stamp.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 21

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 21of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! This week, they have a theme challenge – Santa! And as you can see, I have stepped well outside my CAS comfort zone with my entry!

Now, surprisingly, given my penchant for all things Christmas crafting, I have very few Santa stamps. I was going to use a very old wood-mounted stamp until I remembered the Tim Holtz Christmas Time stamp set that I picked up at my local craft store last year! I just adore the Santa/reindeer stamp – it is such a joyful image, don’t you think? Anyway, I used the wrinkle-free inking technique to apply a couple of layers of distress ink. Yes I smooshed the inkpads in a certain order so that the Festive Berries ended up around Santa and the Rusty Hinge went around the deer!

I added a Gina K sentiment and stamped a few stars from the same Tim Holtz stamp set across the background using Pumice Stone distress oxide. Finally I added some glitter paste using the Tim Holtz Sparkle stencil! What an apt name!

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 20

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 20 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at  CAS Colours and Sketches.

I used the lovely Honey Been Stamps Let it Snow set. I have had this for a couple of years, but I haven’t actually used it before! I don’t know what’s taken me so long – that snowman is such a cutie, isn’t he? I used a Gemini 3D embossing folder for the background and to complete my card, I added a die cut sentiment by Simon Says Stamp.
