Technique – Stamping

Featuring stamping

G’day Mate!

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘Creatures great or small’ and Happy Little Stampers is our sponsor.

There were so many stamps I could’ve chosen for this challenge – I have quite a few fabulous animal layering stamps and cute critter stamps, I was spoilt for choice! In the end I chose the amazing Ellen Hutson/Avery Elle United We Flourish set – G’day Mate. I wanted to use the kangeroo (seriously the cutest kangeroo I’ve seen!) and also incorporate the baby koala… all while keeping the card CAS…

I smooshed some distress ink onto some watercolour paper and sprayed it with a perfect pearls mist. It shimmers so much in real life – so hard to capture in a photo. I then stamped, cut and coloured the images using my beloved twinkling H2Os.

I like the sentiments on the set, but really wanted one that said ‘G’day mate’ – so I used wording from two of the stamps and some post-it notes as I couldn’t bring myself to cut up the sentiment stamps!!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Marge from margecrafts. I’m sure many of you already know Marge – one of the sweetest crafters I have met online! This challenge is perfect for her as she creates the most beautiful critter cards – please drop by her site to see them and many more!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

You Nailed It!

Happy Friyay!

This week’s theme for the Less is More challenge is ‘use a real object’. I’ve been doing a lot of DIY recently so I decided to go with a nail! I wanted to use the phrase ‘you nailed it’ but I don’t have a stamp of that – although I bet I will find it in one of my stamp sets tomorrow! Anyway, I printed it off on white card on my home printer and then stamped the Altenew ‘yay’ above it using Delicata black shimmer ink – it is so shimmery in real life!

I used a die from the Hero Arts 12 point star set as the focal point and then stuck the nail on it using some washi tape…. not sure how long it will hold!

I then stuck the panel on a background that I had embossed with a Sizzix/Tim Holtz folder.

Time Out – rainbow lily

Hi Everyone!

I am very honoured to be a guest designer for the current Time Out challenge. This time, the challenge is to CASE a card (at the end of this post) created by the talented Beverley Brown.

I’ve seen a few cards on Instagram where the designers coloured the background rather than the image, which I thought was so eye-catching so I decided to give that a whirl for my take on Beverley’s card. I stamped the gorgeous Penny Black stargazer lily which I then masked off before stencilling some distress ink to make a soft rainbow background. I added a die cute sentiment from Avery Elle (which I tweaked as I wanted to have a longer ‘tail’ before the word rather than after it!).

Do stop by the Time Out challenge blog and check out the inspiration from the fabulous design team! I hope you can play along too!

Rosebud

Happy Friyay!

I created today’s card using an older stamp from Hero Arts plus a couple of stamps from different Altenew sets. As I wanted the leaf to bend outwards at either side of the rosebud image, I had to bend the leaf a little on my acrylic block. Sometimes stamps spring back quickly when I try to do this, but it worked out fine with this!

I coloured the images using some distress ink and also my Twinkling H2Os – which I also used for the smooshed background. It shimmered so much, it was quite a shame to cover it up! I used an older Avery Elle die to cut out the images.

I’m entering this card into a number of challenges:

Seven Hills Crafts Monthly challenge (I chose the middle colour scheme), Casology (cue word = bud) and CAS Colours and Sketches.

Wherever you go….

Hello Everyone!

The theme for the current Less is More Challenge is ‘your perfect holiday’… I was originally thinking of palm trees/beach scene – great fun, but actually not my idea of MY perfect holiday! I don’t mind a few beach days, but I do love exploring on holiday! I want to get on a plane and spend my vacation exploring a city or marvelling at some amazing landscape….. I couldn’t really find a stamp which summed up all that, so settled on the fabulous Concord & 9th globe greetings set. They stamp so well with the distress oxide ink and I just love that little plane!

I added a background that I created for a splatter challenge a few weeks ago and then a sentiment from a Fiskars that I’ve had for ages!

I’m also entering this into the current Where Creativity meets C9  challenge – ‘anything goes’.

Newton’s pile of fun

Hello everyone!

The theme over at Time Out Challenges is ‘autumn with an optional twist of speed stamping’ – a perfect opportunity for me to ink up my fabulous new Newton’s Nook autumn stamps!

I absolutely loved an autumn stamp that Newton’s Nook did for Stamptember 2015, but I didn’t manage to snag it when it was in store. This Newton/leaves image is different, but just as fabulous and I bought it as soon as I could! Thanks Seven Hills Crafts, for your speedy shipping!

Anyway, I failed miserably at the ‘speed stamping’ element of the challenge – I just don’t colour quickly! Plus I fussy cut some of the little leaves which meant that all in all, I was well over the 10 minute challenge! Heehee!

Thanks for stopping by!
