So many merry snowmen

Hi there!

I fell in love with Mama Elephant’s ‘So many Snowmen’ stamp the moment I saw the sneak peak on Instagram and snapped it up as soon as I could! I can’t believe it landed on my doormat a week ago and I am only just getting round to stamping it up!

Anyway, it was just as fun to colour as I imagined. I used my Twinkling H2O paints and also my Nuvo Aqua shimmer pen and this card is so shimmery in real life! The die is from Mama Elephant as well and I used ‘Christmas’ from a Simon Says Stamp set.

I’m going to enter this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge – anything goes.

Love Monster

Hello!

I must confess I was a bit stumped when I saw this week’s Less Is More challenge theme – ‘monsters’. There are loads of cute monster stamps on the market nowadays but I haven’t bought any as I know I just wouldn’t use them…

Then I remembered a very old wood-mounted stamp from Amuse Art Stanps that I bought a decade ago in Boston! Of course, I still have it because I can’t bear to get rid of any of my old rubber stamps!! Anyway, it’s called ‘Love Monster’ – perfect for the challenge theme!

I kept the card very simple as the image is very small – just a bit of soft ink blending and a sentiment banner to anchor the monster image. I also used a Penny Black snowflake frame to add a little more detail to my card.

The theme for the new Casology challenge is ‘cherish’ and I’m going to enter this card for that challenge as well – a quirky take on the theme!

Sincere Apologies

Hi everyone!

The theme for this week’s Casology Challenge is ‘sorry’ and here is my take.

I die cut an oval from some masking paper and then used distress inks to create a blended background. It didn’t turn out as I’d expected, but I quite liked the effect so I decided to use it for the card base. I stamped an older Stampendous image using Delicata brown shimmer ink and then finished off the card with a Clearly Besotted sentiment.

I’m also entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge which has a fun mood board this week!

Merry Making – Day 5 Holiday Watercolour

Hi there

Day 5 of Online Card Classes’ Merry Making Class was all about Holiday Watercolour. More fabulous techniques, all outside my comfort zone and all bar one using supplies I didn’t have.

So I chose to follow Debby Hughes’s card for this day of class as I had a Molotow Masking pen…. Luckily I decided to test it before I used it and it seemed to have turned into a permanent blue pen! Argh. I really wanted to follow Debby’s techniques so I adapted it a little and created the snowy background using clear embossing powder and the emboss resist technique instead of masking fluid!

The background was a real challenge for me – I prefer to create backgrounds by blending ink, but I knew I had to give the watercolour background a go. I’m glad I did – I still need more practice!

Anyway, I masked some Avery Elle penguins to create the main image (they are so cute, aren’t they) and embossed a sentiment from the same set to finish it off.

Rainbow birthday star

Hi everyone!

The theme for this week’s Less is More challenge is ‘stars’ PLUS it’s one layer card week! I seriously think I could have made at least a dozen cards for this challenge – there are so many possibilities!

I used stamps from The Ton for this card. I was inspired by a colourful card that Virginia Lu had created for The Ton and decided to put my own CAS take on it, using distress oxide inks.

I was a bit disappointed that the sentiment didn’t stand out as much as I had planned, but I think it still works.

Pumpkin Farm Window

Hi everyone!

I’m back with another card I made for a challenge – this time for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I coloured an Art Impressions image using my Twinkling H2Os and then adhered a white panel using funky foam. The strip of paper is from My Mind’s Eye and I used a Hero Arts stamp for the sentiment strip. To finish off the card, I cut a couple of Memory Box pumpkins that I had also coloured with Twinklings.
