Christmas in July 2020 – Day 18

Happy Saturday everyone!

Welcome to Day 18 of  Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along the Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

I used stamps and dies from the October 2019 My Monthly Hero kit – I LOVE this kit so much – all the retro images are brilliant.

I added a strip of Basic Grey paper and a Mama Elephant sentiment to complete my card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 17

Happy Friyay!

Welcome to Day 17 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown challenge. This week’s colour palette is blue, green, peach and gold. I really like the shades in the challenge graphic this week so I knew I had to used my Speckled Egg distress oxide for the green! I decided to create a little Christmas tree scene using the fabulous Quirky Christmas set by Avery Elle!

I used a stencil to add some glittery snow to my card base and adhered the trees using foam tape.

To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Reverse Confetti.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 7

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 7 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with a new-to-me challenge – the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! This week, they have a sketch challenge which I thought would be perfect for my newest festive stamp – the super-cute Rudolph Pressies from Woodware/Creative Expressions.

I coloured Rudolph using my Twinkling H2O paints and then masked him off to apply some distress oxide inks. The sky is actually a blend of Tumbled Glass and Speckled Egg, but you can’t really see it properly in these photos.

I cut some strips from an older BoBunny paper pad – as the green strip has ‘Merry Christmas’ printed along it, I decided I didn’t need to add another sentiment. I did however add a few white snowflakes to the card base to give it a little something extra!

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.

AAA Cards One Corner challenge with masking twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using one corner of your card base only; our sponsor is Cas-ual Fridays. We’d also love you to consider using masking for this challenge – and that’s our optional twist!

It’s Father’s Day in the UK today, so I decided to incorporate that theme as well. I used an older stamp set by Simon Says Stamp and masked off each of my stamped images in turn. When I had finished stamping, I applied a mask to my last image and then gently blended some Vintage Photo distress ink across the background. After removing the masks, I coloured the images using my Twinkling H2O paints. The sentiment is by The Ton.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Milka, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Deco Rose Hello

Hello Everyone!

I was flicking through my flower dies yesterday and spotted the Poppystamps Deco Roses die set and made a mental note to use it again soon, then I thought it would be perfect to use with one of my older Stampendous stamps for my take on the fabulous sketch over at CAS Colours and Sketches.

I heat embossed the deco image and coloured it using my Twinkling H2O paints I also coloured the die cut roses with the same colour before adhering them all to the card base. To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Sugar Pea Designs which I stamped in Peeled Paint distress oxide ink – it seemed to match the green I used for the leaves perfectly!

AAA One Layer Butterfly and Bud

Hi there!

A new challenge starts today over at the AAA Cards challenge blog – this fortnight, we’re challenging you to create a CAS one-layer card. We’ve included a wonderful photo which you could use as inspiration. Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

One layer to me equals stamping. When I looked at the photo, my immediate thought was AMAZING BUTTERFLY… and then I saw how he had landed on an opening flower. I loved the idea of creating a card with a bud and butterfly. My Altenew Botanical Garden set had both, so I got to work. I used a Taylored Expressions mask to create the oval window and added a sentiment from Altenew.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Joanna, who has some lovely cards on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!
