Just Us Girls Guest Designer Week 4

Happy Saturday!

I have the honour of being June Guest Designer for the Just Us Girls challenge and today is my last GD post as it’s the last Saturday in June. I can’t believe it, the month has flown by! Thanks to all the lovely design team members who have been so welcoming and supportive!

This week is photo week and there’s a fun beachy/pineapple scene! When I saw it, I thought I would use a beach scene stamp as I don’t have any pineapple dies or stamps. Then I remembered my Taylored Expressions red rubber/cling pineapple layering set… I really struggled with it when I tried it and thought I’d never use it again, but for some reason I held onto it…. So I decided to give it another go….

I watched a how-to video by Taylor who made it look very easy and so, armed with acetate and my MISTI, I was determined to create a host of fun pineapple….

My first couple of attempts were OK, the position of the layers looked fine but I didn’t like the colours I used. Alas, when I found a colour combo that I liked, I messed up the stamping… SO. MANY. TIMES….. and always with THE. LAST. LAYER! Argh!

I had originally envisaged at least three pineapples on my card but I have to admit that I quickly changed my mind and stopped stamping as soon as I had one pineapple that that looked OK!

I used Tumbled Glass distress ink to create an oval in the centre of my card and stamped the sentiment from the set. I fussy cut my pineapple and added it to my card base with some heart gems to complete my CAS card.

And that stamp set? It has gone right into the ‘too difficult for LucieG’ box!!

Just Us Girls Guest Designer Week 2

Happy Saturday!

I’m so honoured and excited to be the June Guest Designer for the Just Us Girls challenge! Thank you to all the lovely design team for making me feel so welcome last week – you are all so kind!

The theme of this week’s challenge is ‘add a moving element’. Now I’m not really into making interactive cards but I have always had fun making them in various cardmaking classes! Today I decided to keep it super simple with an action wobbler. And I have a story again too!

First, the card, which I made using some products sent to me by Penny Black. I started by masking an area on my card base and blending some distress ink. Then I cut and adhered the Geometric Circles background die (51-644) on top. Then I turned to the fabulous Sweet Sip mini set (30-905) which I stamped twice with my Frayed Burlap archival ink. I fussy cut the kitty and her tail from one image and fussy cut the whole of the second image, and trimmed off most of the kitty so that I would have room for the wobbler. I coloured in the images using my Twinkling H2O paints.

I then adhered kitty’s tail to the mail image and then used two layers of foam tape to adhere the cup to the card base (I didn’t want a big gap between the kitty’s head and the cup). I added the action wobbler under the kitty’s head and positioned it on my card. I then stamped out the sentiment, which I had straightened slightly on my stamping block (as it is a curved sentiment) and added it to my card base along with some tiny gems.

And now for the story. My action wobblers had gone AWOL but while I was searching for them, I finally found a tiny pinecone stamp that I have been searching for for ALMOST ONE YEAR! It was from a long-retired set and was one of my favourite pinecone images. I was so upset when it went missing during Christmas in July 2021 – I knew it hadn’t been thrown out with my craft room rubbish, but also knew it could have ended up anywhere in the house… I never gave up hope, but didn’t expect to find it in a drawer right to where I sit!

Les Fleurs Rondes

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge at Just Add Ink.

I finally used a stamp from my Sentimentally Yours/Phill Martin textured stamp set that I got last year. The stamps were slightly smaller than i was expecting, but they worked well here I think.

I added a die cut by Simply Graphic (Die Fleurs Rondes) which I coloured with Distress Inks and Twinkling H2O paints. I added some glitter card that went perfectly with my coloured die!

Finally I added a Memory Box sentiment.

Yoga Butterfly

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using products kindly send to me by Penny Black.

When I saw the sketch, I thought it would be perfect to showcase an image from the  New Adventures stamp set (30-902) – I love yoga since taking it up last year and this stamp set is perfect for me, although my poses don’t look anything like the yoga girls in the set!! Anyway, I stamped the girl with butterfly wings and fussy cut around it! I coloured her with my Twinkling H2Os and added some stickles.

Then I created a frame for her to sit in using distress inks and a die from the Framed die set (51-622)

I used the Textural die (51- 729) for the strip on the left side of my card base and adhered the frame and image. Finally I stamped a sentiment from the Yoga Builder set (30-714).

Glorious Gazebo

Happy Friyay Everyone!

Today’s card is for the Inkspirational challenge which has a theme of ‘watercolour’.

I’ve loved this wood-mounted Art Impressions Gazebo Window for a while and when I saw it was on sale a few weeks ago, I snapped it up! I stamped it with my new go-to ink (Frayed Burlap Archival ) and coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints.

After I trimmed down the image, I decided I wanted a little something extra, but not too overpowering as I wanted that beautiful image to take centre stage! So I cut the beautiful Poppystamps Massa Leaf Frame and adhered it to my card base before adding the image on top.

Heart of Tulips

Hi there!

I’m back again today with the card I made for The Flower Challenge where the theme is ‘add a heart’.

I’ve been wanting to use the tulip heart stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Easter Wishes set for a while – it’s a beautiful image but as it’s on an Easter set, it usually gets put away and forgotten about! This year, I made sure to keep it on my table when I put away the rest of my Easter supplies!

I stamped the image with my Frayed Burlap distress Archival ink – and I just have to say that this really has become my go-to ink for almost all my stamping! I’m so glad I made my own large ink pad!

Anyway, back to the card – I coloured the image with my twinkling H2Os and then fussy cut it. I die cut the Poppystamps’ Sylvan Sprig from vellum and adhered it to my card base. I added the heart on top and then a Memory Box sentiment.

I was just about to photograph my card when I decided it needed something else so I added a few gems to complete it!
