Christmas in July 2020 – Day 31

Happy Friyay everyone!

Can you believe it’s Day 31 of  Christmas in July? How did that happen? Today I’ve been taking a trip down memory lane while playing along the Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

The theme of the challenge is ‘slimline card’. It took me back to the happy Saturdays that I spent taking card classes at my local (and much-missed) craft store. We rarely made ‘standard’ size cards and would often make slimline cards. I actually bought a lot of pre-creased card bases for slimline cards…. and then I discovered the Instagram card making community where slimline cards were not fashionable. I am so glad I kept hold of those bases though! Slimline cards are back in vogue and I am jumping back into creating them!

I used the beautiful Snowberry Sprig die by Memory Box, together with a stem die from Poppystamps and a vase die by Altenew. The sentiment is from an old Penny Black set.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 27

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 27 of  Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the Case this Sketch challenge.

I decided to use the cute Rudolph from the Ho Ho Ho Deer Circle die by Simon Says Stamp! Can you believe I bought this cutie during last Stamptember but I never got round to using him last Christmas? I paired him with a sentiment from an older Hero Arts stamp set.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 24

Happy Friyay!

Welcome to Day 24 of Christmas in July! I didn’t have much time to craft today so I created a very quick and simple card using the beautiful Christmas Wonderland die by Penny Black. I used a stencilled background I created sometime ago – so grateful I didn’t throw it out when I didn’t use it on a project! The sentiment is from a set by Hero Arts.

I’m entering this into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge where the theme is either nature or anything goes.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 23

Hello All!

Welcome to Day 23 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown challenge. This week’s colour palette (orange, green and yellow) is not a typical festive palette but I made it work using my new Birch Press Design Radiant Ornament die set. I added a layer of holographic card behind the ornament – love the shimmery effect!

Looking at the card now, I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the green distress inks!

To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Simon Says Stamp.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 21

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 21of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! This week, they have a theme challenge – Santa! And as you can see, I have stepped well outside my CAS comfort zone with my entry!

Now, surprisingly, given my penchant for all things Christmas crafting, I have very few Santa stamps. I was going to use a very old wood-mounted stamp until I remembered the Tim Holtz Christmas Time stamp set that I picked up at my local craft store last year! I just adore the Santa/reindeer stamp – it is such a joyful image, don’t you think? Anyway, I used the wrinkle-free inking technique to apply a couple of layers of distress ink. Yes I smooshed the inkpads in a certain order so that the Festive Berries ended up around Santa and the Rusty Hinge went around the deer!

I added a Gina K sentiment and stamped a few stars from the same Tim Holtz stamp set across the background using Pumice Stone distress oxide. Finally I added some glitter paste using the Tim Holtz Sparkle stencil! What an apt name!

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 15

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 15 of  Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the Case this Sketch challenge.

When I say the sketch I thought of a beautiful Snowflake Breeze die from Poppystamps. I haven’t played with it for a while, so it was definitely time to bring it out of hibernation! I cut an ink blended panel and played around with the positioning. It’s such a pretty die, I couldn’t bring myself to cut it up so I decided to create a landscape card instead!

To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Hero Arts and a few gems and sequins!
