Technique – ink blending

Featuring ink blending

Sunrise Fawn

Happy Friyay everyone!

Next up today I’m playing along with the Color Hues challenge.

I’m using the same Penny Black supplies as the last card I blogged – the beautiful Grazing Fawn die (51-672) and the fun Geometric Borders (51-196) – although these are pretty difficult to see.

To create the aqua background, I used Tumbled Glass, Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers distress oxide inks. I had originally tried blending regular distress ink but couldn’t get a decent contrast between Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers. I think I was maybe a little heavy handed with my initial layer of Salvaged Patina…. In any case I switched over to distress oxide and was happier with the contrast.

So here are my two ink blended Fawn cards together – Sunrise and Sunset! Which colour combo do you prefer?

Sunset Fawn

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with colour challenge over at the Just Us Girls Blog.

After entering my original card (below), inspiration struck me and I created a second one, using a bolder pink (Picked Raspberry instead of Kitsch Flamingo) and the same orange and red. I even used the same die beautiful Penny Black Grazing Fawn die (51-672) and then I added a little interest to the background using the Penny Black Geometric Borders (51-196).

For my original card I blended Kitsch Flamingo, Carved Pumpkin and Candied Apple distress ink.

CAS Christmas Challenge – snowman

Hi everyone!

The weather has turned a lot over the past few weeks and it’s much chillier and wetter at the moment and I’m getting excited for my annual Christmas in July event! In preparation for that, I decided to play along with the challenge at CAS Christmas. The challenge theme is snowman.

I chose an older die from Create-a-Smile and a sentiment from Mama Elephant.

Happy Father’s Day 2021

Happy Father’s Day to my dear Dad!

My dad prefers very CAS cards but I couldn’t resist just adding a little bit of interest to the background on this card!

I die cut the Simply Graphic irregular circle frames from white card and adhered them to my card base. Next, I coloured the Scrapping Cottage Vintage Car die with distress inks. Jalopies are a special shared memory for my dad and I and so I HAD to buy this die when I spotted it in a sale years ago!

I used a Simon Says Stamp  Star die and then snipped the die cut in a few places so that I could arrange the stars to reflect the sketch. I also die cut a few smaller stars.

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment from an old Hero Arts wood-mounted stamp. They’ve released this in a clear stamp set now and although I’m quite tempted to buy it, my old wood-mounted stamps still give a great impression.

I’m entering this into the Male Room Challenge where the theme is Dads or Grandads.

Just Because Foliage

Happy Friyay everyone!

So, as I was indulging in a little crafty retail therapy today, I remembered that I bought a beautiful Adriana Poppystamps foliage die last month and hadn’t yet used it! So I knew I wanted to change that this weekend! I thought that it would work well with the colour combo from this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (red, green, kraft and pink).

I coloured the die cut with distress ink and then added the Memory Box seed stems and the Just Because Posh Script sentiment.

Daisy, daisy

Hi there!

I had a bit of free time today so I decided to play along with the colour challenge at  CAS Colours and Sketches and create a card that I’ve been thinking about for a while.

I love the new Penny Black Daisy Delight die (51-676) and have lots of ideas for it but first I wanted to use it in the way it’s been designed, as an along-the-edge die. I cut it several times and then trimmed off some stems so that it would fit on a slimline card. I added some ink-blended cardstock on top of the die cuts to hide the joins in the die cuts.

The sentiment is from an older Penny Black set called Wishes (30-103).
