Christmas in July 2021 – Day 29

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 29 of Christmas in July 2021! Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought of my Horizontal Stripes die from My Favorite Things. Although I have HUGE PROBLEMS using this die, I knew it would be perfect for the sketch. How can such a simple die cause me so many problems, you may wonder! Well, the card buckles in my Gemini and the stripes seem to stretch as I can’t get them to lie flat. In the end, I used an old die cutting machine – the cut isn’t as clean but the card doesn’t buckle.

Anyway, enough of my moaning and onto my card! I blended various green distress inks on a card base and adhered a panel cut with the Stripes die on top. Next I assembled the gorgeous Birch Press Radiant ornament and adhered it to my card base, I added my favourite Sizzix bow and a Mama Elephant sentiment to complete my card.

Christmas in July 2021 – Day 28

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 28 of Christmas in July 2021! Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge hosted by The Paper Players .

I felt it was time to create another reindeer card and decided to use the Reindeer die by Impression Obsession. I just love those statement antlers! I coloured the deer with distress inks, added the antlers that I cut from glitter card and adhered the image to an ink-blended panel. I added the Taylored Expressions Mini Holiday Borders to my card base before adhering the deer panel. Finally I added a stamped sentiment using, yes, you’ve guess it! My go-to Mama Elephant sentiment set!

Christmas in July 2021 – Day 27

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 27 of Christmas in July 2021! Today I’m playing along with the Christmas Card Throwdown challenge where the challenge is to use vellum on a window card.

I loved how DT member Rosi dry embossed the vellum on her card so I decided to do the same! I created a bold centre panel with distress oxide inks. I embossed some vellum using a Taylored Expressions folder and adhered it to a frame cut using the Memory Box Cross Stitched Frames die set. I then adhered the frame on top of the inky panel. I love that the bold colour still shows the vellum! Next I die cut the Forest Pine Branch and coloured it with distress inks before adhering it to the frame. I added two Poppystamps Winter berries die cuts and bows cut from the Crisps Bows set. Finally I added a sentiment from a Hunkydory/Moonstone set.

Christmas in July 2021 – Day 24

Happy Saturday everyone!

Welcome to Day 24 of Christmas in July 2021! Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

When I saw this sketch as I knew it would be perfect for showcasing some of my rather extensive collection of snowflake dies. I masked off a central band and lightly blended distress inks, inadvertently using a very similar colour palette to a card I made for the challenge last week! It’s weird how the subconscious works sometimes isn’t it?!

The larger snowflake dies are by Simon Says Stamp and I chose a smaller snowflake from a My Favorite Things set. The sentiment is a combination of dies from Hunkydory Moonstone and Penny Black.

Christmas in July 2021 – Day 22

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 22 of Christmas in July 2021! Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge which has a palette of aqua, blue, green and kraft – so yes, that means another Christmas card with a non-traditional colour combo!

I bought the Poppystamps Bright Holly Tall Curved Border last year but despite cutting it out a few times, I don’t think I ever actually used it on a card! But today, I finally got it onto a card! Twice! I coloured the die cuts with distress inks, adhered it to an ink-blended base and added a bold Avery Elle sentiment.

Christmas in July 2021 – Day 21

Hello again everyone!

Welcome to Day 21 of Christmas in July 2021! Today I’m playing along with the Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge using some Penny Black products.

I actually decided to CASE a card I made a few years ago! I used distress inks to colour the Holly and Berry Branch die (51-404) and added a few Nuvo drops to the berries. Next I cut a square from an ink blended background using the Snowflake Stitch Frames (51-375) and adhered it to my card base before adding the holly branch. to finish, I added a few die cut snowflakes (Snow Family Cut Out 51-395) and a sentiment (Holiday Snippets 30-307).
