My yoga journey

Hello everyone!

Today I’m paying tribute to my 2021 yoga journey with a card using products from Penny Black!

But first, a little background story. About a year ago, a post popped up on my instagram feed about Adriene’s 30 day yoga programme. I was intrigued… I had tried yoga before but it hadn’t stuck – I had always become bored and demotivated and stopped… but something about this programme made me want to try it. So I did…. and somewhere along the way something just clicked.  By Day 20, I had started to feel disappointed that the programme was coming to an end…. And then I discovered that each month the Yoga with Adriene team issues a new calendar of mostly older sessions – I was delighted – I knew that I needed the variety that a curated calendar would provide.

I started last January with zero expectations. Certainly no intention to practice daily beyond January! Yet that is exactly what has happened! Today, I completed my 361st consecutive day of practice (1 January was an intro session)! And I feel so much better for it! Some days I have practiced for an hour. Other days, 10-15 minutes…. But I have got on that mat every single day! I still have a long way to go – I know that the impact of decades of my western lifestyle can’t be erased over a year or two or three. But that’s ok. I love my daily sessions and I know have made progress this year. I’m in it for the long haul.

So onto the card! To start with, I created an ink-blended background section using distress inks and then stamped, coloured and fussy cut the main image from the Breathe mini set (30-473). Next, I cut some flourishes and butterflies from vellum using dies from the Flourish and Butterflies die set, 51-198) and adhered everything to my card base. Finally I stamped the sentiment from the Breathe set.

Retro deck the halls

Hello again everyone!

Next up today is my entry for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, which has quite a retro combos – pink, turquoise, green and black.

I turned to my new die sets from The Greetery. The background was created with the Pine Wisp die set and then I added ornaments from the Curio: Attic Ornaments set. To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Sunny Studios.

Day 15 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2021

Hi everyone!

As Tracey McNeely isn’t running her 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year, I have created my own event using 25 days from Tracey’s event posts over the last decade, as I explained in this post.

Day 15’s inspiration is Day 15, 2018. I was particularly drawn to the more intricate nature of the tags in this blog post. You can see what I created back in 2018 here and this time I’ve chosen Tanja’s tag. I just LOVE how she created that background and I’m very grateful that she included instructions.

I used my brand new Pinecone Plethora embossing folder from Gemini. You may remember that my original embossing folder met with a rather sad end. But thanks to a lovely IG friend, I located and won its replacement in an ebay auction! Phew!

The dies are by Simply Graphic and Savvy Stamps.

Day 12 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2021

Hi everyone!

As Tracey McNeely isn’t running her 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year, I have created my own event using 25 days from Tracey’s event posts over the last decade, as I explained in this post.

Day 12’s inspiration is Day 8, 2018. You can see the card I made here! I loved that inspiration so much, I had to buy that Uniko set as soon as it was back in stock! I really wanted to used that Uniko set, but as I was inspired by Jane’s tag this time round, I decided to use a tree by Julie Hickey Designs instead.

Winter arrangement

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using products from the new Penny Black release called Hello Winter!

I lightly applied spun sugar distress ink to create a focal point and then die cut the two stems from the Frosted Greens die set (51-710). I coloured them with different shades of distress ink and then lifted any green ink from the berries using water. I adhered the stems to my card base and added a container cut from pearlescent silver card (container is from the Hanging Planters die set, 51-501). Finally I stamped a sentiment from the When Snow Falls stamp set (30-881)

Snowflake medallion bauble

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous combo of white, gold and blue.

Last weekend, I rediscovered eBay and managed to snag a few great deals! I had been wanting the Hero Arts Snowflake Medallion die since I saw it last year and so I was very pleased to finally get hold of it! I had to use it straight away with this card – I cut some of my brand new Simon Says Stamp white glitter card, although it’s pretty difficult to photograph the shimmer. Anyway, I added it to a circle that I’d covered with Prize Ribbon/Chipped Sapphire distress oxide and added a glittery gold chain using a die from teh Hero Arts Joy Ornament. Finally I added a sentiment from Hunkydory/Moonstone.
