Technique – dry embossing

Featuring dry embossing

Best wishes with Butterfly Bliss

Hello everyone!!

After thinking I wouldn’t play along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week, inspiration struck so here I am!

I knew I wanted to create something a bit different, so instead of two rectangular panels, I cut two flowery shapes which I edged with ink and dry embossed with a Simon Says Stamp folder called Jubilee.

The images are from the new Pinkfresh Studio Butterfly Bliss product suite and coloured using my older Altenew inks.

The sentiment is by the Ton Stamps.

Egg Week 2025 Day 7

Hi there!

It’s Day 7 of LucieG’s Egg Week 2025! How can that be? I still have many ideas and unused product!

Today I focussed on the Simon Says Stamp Floral Egg embossing folder. I actually bought this on release day earlier this year – which is rare for me, I usually take my time with Simons products. But this just spoke to me – maybe because it reminded me so much of this card that I made my mum last Easter using lots of different embossing folders.

The sentiment is by Reverse Confetti and is cut from some fabulous Simons luxe glitter card.

Egg Week 2025 Day 6

Hi there!

It’s Day 6 of LucieG’s Egg Week 2025! Today I decided to CASE another card I made back in February which coincidentally turned out to be my card for Day 6 of Heart Week 2025 – so weird after my Day 3 card!

I used the new Spellbinders coloured card in Windy, Seaside and Fairy Tale to cut a few eggs which I then coloured with a darker shade of distress ink. I’m extremely grateful to Michelle at The Card Grotto who shared a very informative post comparing the cardstock – it really helped me narrow down my choices as I often find the card I buy online is much darker than my preferred palette! Spellbinders UK has A4 sized card too – which is brilliant… I can almost forgive them for discontinuing my beloved Portobello cardstock… almost!

The largest die cut egg is the Waltham Egg by Memory Box. It’s dated 2016 and I probably bought it when it was newly released. Isn’t it pretty? I embossed the mint (Seaside) egg with the Simon Says Stamp Dancing Floral folder and then added lots of die cut butterflies from Simon’s Flickering Butterflies die set.

The sentiment is from a set by Taylored Expressions.

Block print radiant butterfly

Hello again!

After last week’s stress to get my card uploaded just before the Freshly Made Sketches challenge deadline, I made sure that my card was finished MUCH earlier this week!

I originally wanted to combine the sketch with my ongoing ‘Egg week’ Easter focus, but I really wanted to start using the Birch Press Design Block Print Radiant Butterfly die set that landed on my doormat this week. So I pulled out my mirror card and distress inks and got busy!

This is such a fabulous bold butterfly, it really doesn’t need a supporting cast so I opted for a simple embossed background using the Simon Says Stamp Star Lattice folder.

The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.

Egg Week 2025 Day 2

Hi there!

It’s Day 2 of  LucieG’s Egg Week 2025!

Today I used the Big Egg die set by Reverse Confetti. I actually tried this with several different papers and colours but in the end I chose this version with some beautiful My Mind’s Eye paper. The background is a Spellbinders folder and the bow is from a new Simon Says Stamp set.

The sentiment is from a set also by Simon Says Stamp.

Ikebana card

Hi there!

I’m quickly popping in with my entry for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I’ll be back later to add more photos, but want to make sure I hit the challenge deadline!

ETA – I’m so relieved I managed to get my entry in this evening. This week has been busy and I really haven’t felt like crafting! I only had a couple of hours to create a card this evening and although the card came together quickly, I wasted a lot of time trying to stamp a ‘perfect’ sentiment…. and after all that,  I had huge computer issues. I really thought I wouldn’t make it.

Anyway, I used a fabulous die set by Sizzix called ‘Ikebana’. I cut the images from Craft Consortium paper and then dry embossed a piece of my precious Basic Grey paper with a favourite Simon Says Stamp embossing folder called ‘Spun Glass’. I splattered some gold paint over the background, but the splatters are rather subtle so you can’t really see them in my photos.

The sentiment ifs from a My Favorite Things set.
