Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 7

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 6 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m doing something I rarely seem to do – sharing a card that I created without a challenge in mind!

I wanted to use an absolutely gorgeous die set that I didn’t get round to using when I got it last December – the fabulous Christmas Time in the City die set by the Greetery. I coloured all the images using distress inks and used a Reverse Confetti frame die to ground the images. The frame is actually longer than the one in my card – I snipped off a section on either side and hid the joins under the die cut images!

The sentiment is from a set by My Favorite Things.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 6

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 6 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Christmas Card Throwdown sketch challenge.

Time is not on my side this week so this was another quick make. I chose the gorgeous Twinkle ornament die by Birch Press Designs as my focal point and added strips of embossed card and Basic Grey paper.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 5

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 5 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Just Us Girls challenge where the theme is mammals. Ha! Perfect excuse for a reindeer card!

It’s difficult to see in the smaller photos, but I started with a Uniko stencil and some moonstone glitter paste to add a bit of texture to my card base and added a Memory Box frame cut from glitter card. I then used an older die set (Delightful Deer) from My Favorite Things which I cut from kraft card and sponged with some distress ink.

Finally I added sentiment from an older My Favorite Things stamp set.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 4

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 4 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous palette of purple, blue and white, perfect for festive cards.

Annoyingly, my day took a bit of a turn and I didn’t have as much crafty time as I had hoped. I ended up making another very quick CAS card using the Snowflake banner die by Simon Says Stamp. The sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp/Avery Elle Stamptember collaboration from 2016.

I added a few Studio Katia gems to complete my card. In keeping with my frustrating day, one gem completely disappeared when I was gluing it to my card…. look closely. can you spot where it turned up?!!

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 3

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 3 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products sent to me by Penny Black.

When I saw the sketch, I thought of the beautiful bird in the Nestled die set (51-722) so I pulled it out and got to work. I have to confess I coloured him a few times first with distress inks and then with my beloved Twinkling H2Os. In the end I chose to use the one coloured with Twinklings. I used a couple of Distress Oxide inks to create a background strip and added a couple of the branches from the Nestled set before adhering the bird to the card base.

To complete my card I used a sentiment from the Hearts Come Home mini stamp set (30-849).

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 1

Happy Friyay everyone!

It’s that time of year again! LucieG’s Christmas in July! Woohoo! For the past couple of years, I’ve dedicated July to Christmas cardmaking and reaped the benefits in November/December when life always seems to get super busy! I LOVE having a good supply of cards to send to all my friends rather than stress about making them before the posting deadline. Plus I get a chance to use the festive supplies I bought in the after-Christmas sales!

Mind you, quite a few manufacturers have already released some festive supplies… will I get tempted to buy buy buy! You bet I will!

Anyway, for Christmas in July Day 2, I’m playing along with the sketch challenge over at The Paper Players.

As I’ve had a bit of a break from cardmaking, I kept my take on the sketch super simple using an oldie and goodie die (Wishing Trees) by Simon Says Stamp and some of my Basic Grey patterned paper mountain. The sentiment is by My Favorite Things.
