Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 22

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 22 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

It took me a little while to work out what I wanted to do with this sketch – I toyed with panels of patterned paper and embossed cardstock but in the end, I created my own card front, cutting out three frames and added my homemade patterned paper behind the frame. I created the paper with some unpatterned Basic Grey paper and Picket Fence Studios’ Falling Pinecones stamp. It was a tricky stamp to use – couldn’t get it to stamp consistently. I looked at the image online – it doesn’t look as if the cones are supposed to have a weathered or distress look when stamped but after 4 layers (thank goodness for the MISTI), I called it good enough!

I added a couple of the Poppystamps Mistletoe branches and Nuvo drops plus a sentiment by My Favorite Things to complete my card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 21

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 21 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! It’s the third Thursday of the month and time for Jenn Shurkus’s ‘Get Cracking on Christmas’.

I have to say that the colour challenges are really challenging me this month! Today’ I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge but the palette of yellow, green, aqua and kraft isn’t overly festive….

In the end, I smooshed some Squeezed Lemonade distress ink onto my card base and coloured some Simply Graphic die cuts with distress oxide ink for my non-traditional Christmas card!

The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 20

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 20 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! I was originally going to enter this card in a CAS Christmas card challenge but I realised that I hadn’t met their rules of using only a third of the card base…. still, it’s worth sharing here as it’s still a make for my Christmas in July challenge!

I received my new Waffle Flower Winter Layering bird on Monday and decided to use that set, together with the gold diamond frame that I had cut for Monday’s card.  I coloured the bird and branches with distress inks and adhered everything to my card base. The sentiment is from an older set by Clearly Bsotted.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 19

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 19 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Christmas Card Throwdown challenge where the theme is ‘Christmas Florals’.

I had to do it. I couldn’t help myself! I had to use the wonderful Memory Box Flowering Christmas Tree! This die is from 2011 and gets used every year I think! And this is its second appearance in 2022! Anyway, I coloured it with Twinkling H2O paints and added some die cut flowers on top.

I then stencilled some glitter paste to my card base, adhered the tree and added a Paper Rose Studio vase and a sentiment by Sugar Pea Designs to complete my card.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 18

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 18 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Just Us Girls colour challenge.

I just received the fabulous diamond frame die by Waffle Flower Crafts and couldn’t wait to get crafty with it! In the end, I layered a few die cuts and inlaid the gold sections. The ornaments are from The Greetery’s Curio Attic Ornaments set and the sentiment is by My Favorite Things.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 17

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 17 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along with this month’s CAS Christmas card challenge where the theme is ‘Santa’.

Originally I wasn’t going to play along with this challenge because I don’t really have any Santa supplies… Then I remembered my Santa’s Snowy Hills die from Picket Fence Studios so got crafty! I used a section of the die and cut that die cut with a circle die. I added a little Victorian Velvet distress ink to my card base and adhered the card.

I added a few stars and a Mama Elephant sentiment to complete my take.

Thanks for stopping by!
