Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

A Note of Thanks

Hi everyone

For today’s card, I used the current sketch from the CASE This Sketch challenge blog as my inspiration. I stamped a piece of kraft card with a background stamp from My Favorite Things using Versamark. I then added some strips that I had cut using a My Favorite Things die. Finally I added a Winnie and Walter sentiment onto the die cut strip. This was a small deviation from the sketch – I tried the sentiment above the strip and it just didn’t look right to me….

Anyway, I’m also entering this into the current Color Throwdown challenge – green, kraft and white.

For the Boys challenge

Hi there!

The challenge over at the Penny Black and More challenge blog is ‘ For the Boys’. This was quite difficult for me as I don’t have many Penny Black ‘male’ stamps, but I eventually came up with this card. I embossed the Penny Black ‘Energised’ stamp and then blended some distress oxide ink over it to create the background. I added one of my favourite Happy Birthday dies and a white frame to finish off the card.

Shimmering Hummingbirds

Hi everyone!

I’ve seen a few cards with humming birds recently and I really love them, so I bought the Hero Arts hummingbird dies to play with! I’m really looking forward to creating lots of different coloured birds with them!

Anyway, today, I coloured them with my Twinkling H20s and added them to the gorgeous Simon Says Stamp Bouquet of Thanks stamp. Lots of shimmer on this card (again!!).

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge and Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday.

Noteworthy Neutrals

Hi everyone!

The challenge over at the Memory Box blog this month is ‘noteworthy neutrals’ and here is my take using three Memory Box dies (Fresh Foliage, Contempo Birds and Thanks).

I created the black/grey card using Black Soot Distress Oxide ink and couldn’t resist spritzing some Distress Mica Spray on it! This card shimmers so much in real life!

Fabulous Flamingos

Happy Saturday!

For today’s card, I masked off a section of cardstock and lightly blended some distress ink. I then stamped a flamingo background stamp from Simon Says Stamp using distress oxide ink. Love how easy it is to stamp with those inks.

Anyway, I used part of a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp set and then added a die cut word from Ellen Hutson that I cut out several times for depth.

A few yellow enamel dots completed the card!

I’m entering this into a number of challenges – Freshly Made Sketches , the Color Throwdown (raspberry pink, green and yellow) and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge (anything goes).

Sparkling Chinese Lanterns

Hello!

I love Chinese Lanterns and so I just had to have this new gorgeous Poppystamps die as soon as I saw it!

I coloured the die cut using my Twinkling H20’s and then inlaid some coordinating glitter paper (which I found after I had coloured the image – still can’t believe I had such a good match).

I cut an oval from my base card and then stuck some acetate to create the window before adhering the die cut and a sentiment die cut, also by Poppystamps.

I’m entering this into two challenges: Poppystamps Monthly Challenge (Just Bling it) and Less is More Challenge (Anything but Stamps).

Thanks for stopping by!
