Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Framed thoughts

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday! I actually made it to the post office today – first time since lockdown… I bought a load of stamps and I’m looking forward to getting a bunch of cards out to friends! For today’s card. I’m playing along with the current Color Throwdown challenge (pink, aqua, gold and white).

I started with a die cut tag which I altered by smooshing some Tumbled Glass distress ink. Then I cut an Altenew frame from metallic gold cardstock. Having seen the photos, I’m glad I added the gold ribbon because you can’t really see that the frame is gold, can you? I added a couple of Simply Graphic die cuts and a few pink dots. The sentiment is by Poppystamps.

Happy Dad’s Day 2020

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge ! I rotated and flipped the sketch, I think that’s allowed with this challenge…

I used an older stamp from a Hero Arts set and dies by Elizabeth Craft Designs and Avery Elle to cut  panel I had created with distress oxide inks.

Deco Rose Hello

Hello Everyone!

I was flicking through my flower dies yesterday and spotted the Poppystamps Deco Roses die set and made a mental note to use it again soon, then I thought it would be perfect to use with one of my older Stampendous stamps for my take on the fabulous sketch over at CAS Colours and Sketches.

I heat embossed the deco image and coloured it using my Twinkling H2O paints I also coloured the die cut roses with the same colour before adhering them all to the card base. To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Sugar Pea Designs which I stamped in Peeled Paint distress oxide ink – it seemed to match the green I used for the leaves perfectly!

Color Throwdown Fairytale Flower Card

Good morning everyone!

This week, I have the honour of being the Guest Designer over at one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown Challenge.

The palette for this challenge is blue, purple, light blue and green, another fabulous combination, don’t you think?

I’m currently challenging myself to use some of my older, little used dies. I always struggle a bit with border dies – I have MANY pretty ones, but I get stuck trying to incorporate them into different card designs. This card is actually made from the pretty Memory Box Fairytale Flower Border die that I cut and coloured three times and then cut up and arranged to cover half of my card base. The sentiment is by Your Next Stamp.

There’s some amazing inspiration from the Color Throwdown DT over on the challenge blog – I do hope you can play along this week!

I’m also entering this into the current Memory Box challenge where the theme is birthdays.

Thanks for stopping by!
