Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 7

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 7 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with a new-to-me challenge – the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! This week, they have a sketch challenge which I thought would be perfect for my newest festive stamp – the super-cute Rudolph Pressies from Woodware/Creative Expressions.

I coloured Rudolph using my Twinkling H2O paints and then masked him off to apply some distress oxide inks. The sky is actually a blend of Tumbled Glass and Speckled Egg, but you can’t really see it properly in these photos.

I cut some strips from an older BoBunny paper pad – as the green strip has ‘Merry Christmas’ printed along it, I decided I didn’t need to add another sentiment. I did however add a few white snowflakes to the card base to give it a little something extra!

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 6

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 6 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made sketches challenge – such a cool design this week!

I knew I wanted to include the Poppystamps Snowflake Screen die and the Memory Box Scribble Snowman dies into my take, but I did find it quite difficult to choose a third element. I thought of a stack of snowballs, a Christmas tree, holly or a pine branch. And then I decided on a cardinal! I actually used a non-festive set for my little cardinal – the My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather set.

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 4

Happy Saturday everyone!

Welcome to Day 4 of  Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with two challenges – the Case this Sketch challenge and  the Color Throwdown challenge. This week’s colour palette is perfect for Christmas foliage – red green, black and white! I spent a little while trying to decide between holly and poinsettia and as you can see, the latter triumphed! I used the beautiful Simon Says Stamp Poinsettia Parade die and cut a couple of panels I had created with Color Bursts and Distress Oxide inks.

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Sugar Pea Designs and a few gems!

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 3

Hello everyone and welcome to Day 2 of Christmas in July 2020!

Today I’m playing along with the current challenge over at Time Out Challenges where the theme is ‘days gone by’. I immediately thought of my retro ornament dies by Simply Graphic. Aren’t they fabulous. They bring back so many memories! I the branches dies are also by Simply Graphic. The sentiment is from a very versatile sentiment set by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 2

Hello everyone and welcome to Day 2 of Christmas in July 2020!

Today I’m playing along with the current sketch challenge over at The Paper Players – I had so much fun with all these layers. I used the Deco Trees die by Memory Box. It’s difficult to see from the photos, but I have some slightly distressed silver cardstock which I used behind the trees – I am still reeling from the shock of finding this cardstock so quickly! That never normally happens, does it!

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 1

Hello everyone!

Last year, I dedicated July to Christmas and reaped the benefits in November/December when my life got super busy and I had no time for cardmaking! I LOVED having a good supply of cards to send to all my friends. After all the challenges of 2020 to date, I have been REALLY looking forward to this July and LucieG’s Christmas in July 2020. Plus I have a nice break from work planned this month. Hurrah!

So, for Christmas in July Day 1, I pulled out the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Alicia Snowflake to cut a panel created with Distress Oxide inks. using the sketch from the current Case this Sketch challenge, I then embossed a panel using a Crafter’s Companion folder. Finally I added a sentiment from Mama Elephant and a few gems to complete my take.
