Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 11

Happy Saturday everyone!

Welcome to Day 11 of  Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along the Freshly Made Sketches challenge – they have such a cool sketch this week, I really had to think about how I would interpret it!

In the end, I heat embossed the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Leaves and Berries background stamp and masked off two triangles before applying Distress Oxide Antique Linen. I used water to lift some of the ink from the leaves and berries and then added a die cut sentiment, also by Simon Says Stamp, to complete my take.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 10

Happy Friyay everyone!

Welcome to Day 10 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the Poppystamps challenge where the theme is ‘glim and glam – make it sparkle’. Perfect for Christmas in July!

I dipped into my Poppystamps festive die collection and used the Winterflake Frame and Whittle Snowman and Whittle Trees dies. I embossed the background with a Taylored Expressions folder.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 9

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 9 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the Memory Box / Outside the Box challenge where the theme is ‘framed’.

I bought this beautiful Memory Box Pine Tree Frame die last year but didn’t have time to use it, so I thought it would be perfect for this challenge.

I coloured the trees using Speckled Egg distress oxide ink – this colour really seemed to get greener as it dried! I adhered the coloured layer to two other die cuts to give it a bit of depth before adhering it to a panel I created from Distress Oxide inks some time ago.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 8

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Welcome to Day 8 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge at  CAS Colours and Sketches where the colour palette is – green, grape and blue! I wanted to create a card showcasing my gorgeous new snowflake die from Simply Graphic – so I kept this super simple!

To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant – their sentiment sets are turning into my go-to set for this Christmas in July!!

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 7

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 7 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with a new-to-me challenge – the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! This week, they have a sketch challenge which I thought would be perfect for my newest festive stamp – the super-cute Rudolph Pressies from Woodware/Creative Expressions.

I coloured Rudolph using my Twinkling H2O paints and then masked him off to apply some distress oxide inks. The sky is actually a blend of Tumbled Glass and Speckled Egg, but you can’t really see it properly in these photos.

I cut some strips from an older BoBunny paper pad – as the green strip has ‘Merry Christmas’ printed along it, I decided I didn’t need to add another sentiment. I did however add a few white snowflakes to the card base to give it a little something extra!

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 6

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 6 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made sketches challenge – such a cool design this week!

I knew I wanted to include the Poppystamps Snowflake Screen die and the Memory Box Scribble Snowman dies into my take, but I did find it quite difficult to choose a third element. I thought of a stack of snowballs, a Christmas tree, holly or a pine branch. And then I decided on a cardinal! I actually used a non-festive set for my little cardinal – the My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather set.

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.
