Technique – colouring

Featuring colouring other than watercolouring

A colourful hi

Well ‘hi’ there everyone!

I thought I’d use another one of the backgrounds that I made during yesterday’s session playing with the Tim Holtz stamping platform. I embossed another Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous background stamp and then added some distress marker ink using the plastic bag smooshing technique.

I love this week’s sketch over at Case This Sketch and thought it would be really ‘easy’. Hmm…. not quite – you would not believe how many different die cuts/colour combos I tried with this background. In the end, I kept it very simple and it definitely works better than all my other options! Really loving those Altenew letters!

Newton’s pile of fun

Hello everyone!

The theme over at Time Out Challenges is ‘autumn with an optional twist of speed stamping’ – a perfect opportunity for me to ink up my fabulous new Newton’s Nook autumn stamps!

I absolutely loved an autumn stamp that Newton’s Nook did for Stamptember 2015, but I didn’t manage to snag it when it was in store. This Newton/leaves image is different, but just as fabulous and I bought it as soon as I could! Thanks Seven Hills Crafts, for your speedy shipping!

Anyway, I failed miserably at the ‘speed stamping’ element of the challenge – I just don’t colour quickly! Plus I fussy cut some of the little leaves which meant that all in all, I was well over the 10 minute challenge! Heehee!

Masked bird

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘Masking’ and Stamplorations is our sponsor.

I absolutely ADORE masking – it is one of my favourite techniques and one I use a lot, especially for one layer cards – this cute owl card was so much fun to create, as was this stencilled card.

For my card, I used the fabulous ‘G’day Mate’ stamp set – a collaboration between Avery Elle and Ellen Hutson. I love the colours in this month’s Ellen Hutson Pinsights Challenge so I used some of them when colouring the bird. I then masked off the image and used the My Favourite Things Radiating Rays Stencil to create the background. To finish off the card, I used a word die from Ellen Hutson together with a Concord & 9th stamp and a few glittery stars!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Maria from White Mood. She has some amazing creations on her blog, so please drop by her site!

I’m also entering my card into the current Ellen Hutson Pinsights challenge.

I hope you’ll play along with us over at AAA Cards and have as much fun creating with this technique as I do!

Life’s a Beach

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘Summer Fun’ and Happy Little Stampers is our sponsor.

For my card, I stamped and coloured images from the Avery Elle Beside the Sea set. I then masked off the images and created a blended background with regular distress ink and also distress oxide ink. I cut a frame from glitter paper and then added a sentiment from the set to finish it off!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Ishani from Quillish. She has some amazing creations on her blog – her quilling is GORGEOUS – so please drop by her site!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Sweet Strawberries

Happy Saturday!

Today’s card is inspired by two challenges – the Casology challenge (cue word – juicy) and the Retro Rubber challenge (a summery photo inspiration).

I pulled out one of my older Magenta stamps, which I think I’ve had for about 3 years, maybe more…. but which I’m ashamed to say, I have never used! I’ve said it before, and I know I will be saying it again in future, but I am so grateful I found the Retro Rubber blog – it really inspires me to use my oft-neglected wooden stamp collection.

Anyway, I coloured the image using my Twinkling H20s and added some stickles to the flower. I cut out a square from some white card using a die by My Favorite Things and added a sentiment by Altenew (seriously, it took me longer to choose the sentiment than make this card! Couldn’t decide between punny eg ‘I’m berry sorry’ or more serious!).

I added the white card on top of my base card using funky foam for dimension.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Pierced Thanks

Hi there!

This week’s Less is More challenge is ‘pierce your project’ – hmmm…. I don’t ‘do’ sewing and didn’t really have any ideas for my eyelets and brads… so I turned to my trusty die collection and found a few that pierce the paper. That’ll fulfil the challenge, right!

Anyway, I coloured a floral die cut from Memory Box and stuck it to a base I’d cut with an Avery Elle die. I added an Avery Elle sentiment stamped in distress ink and a few mini pearls to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by!
