Christmas in July 2024 – Day 19

Happy Festive Friday everyone!

Welcome to Day 19 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024!

The Spellbinders July Club 3D embossing folder is called Pine Cones & Berries so of course I had to have it! It arrived this morning and it is absolutely STUNNING – the texture is amazing, and I just had to make a card with it straightaway!

I paired it with a Tim Holtz/Sizzix pine die and some cones from the Stampin’ Up Christmas Pinecone die set. Again I uses layers of white glitter card for snow, but you can’t see the glitter very well in my photos sadly!

The sentiment is also by Sizzix.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 18

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 18 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and today the beautiful Memory Box Gilded Sleigh takes centre stage!!

I coloured it with red distress inks and added gold card accents. I really should have used one of my MANY other trees, but the multi-layered Spellbinders’ Sealed Christmas Tree Squiggle die that I first used a few days ago just worked so well! I also added a couple of small gifts cut with Honey Bee Stamps dies.

I adhered my sleigh to a background cut with the Heffy Doodle Winter Forest Background die. Again, I probably should have used one of my many other background dies or folders, but I just love this die so much!

The gold-embossed sentiment is from the Puffy Holiday Greetings set by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 16

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 16 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and today I have another twofer to share.

Today’s focal point is the Wide Pine Needle Shoots die set by Poppystamps – I’ve already used it once this month, but I had a few more ideas for it!  I cut it from dark green card and glitter card and got busy!

For my first card, I cut some green card with an Alex Syberia background die. I adhered my tree to a tag cut from an Altenew die and added a silver bow and die cut star before affixing it to my card base.

For my second card, I embossed the background with a Spellbinders folder and adhered my tree with another little die cut star. The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts wood-mounted set.

So which one do you prefer?

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 8

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 8 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and today I have a twofer to share.

I’ve been trying to talk myself out of buying a tree die set that I’ve liked since it was released last year. It quickly went out of the stock here in the UK and I forgot about it… but of course I have remembered it again and it’s in stock! BUT…. I have SO MANY tree dies and stamps that I just don’t feel that I can justify another set! In fact I have spent a fair chunk of my weekend crafty time proving to myself just how many sets I currently have by using them! So today is the turn of Spellbinders’ Tree Squiggle Etched die!

The die set has two trees that you layer to create a tree. For my first card I stamped a Woodware background stamp on my card base and adhered a silver die cut tree on top. I then added a sentiment by The Ton and a few glittery stars.

For my second card, I cut both dies twice – from glitter and mirror card and layered them all together. I really like the fullness of this second tree! I adhered it on to some old Bo Bunny patterned paper and added a sentiment from my go-to Mama Elephant set.

So which one do you prefer?

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 1

Happy Monday everyone!

It’s that time of year again! LucieG’s Christmas in July! Woohoo! How can we be at the start of July already? The first six months of the year have flown by!

Since 2019, I’ve dedicated July to Christmas cardmaking and had always felt thatI reaped the benefits in November/December when life always seems to get super busy! Up until last year, I had a good supply of cards to send to all my friends and didn’t stress about making them before the posting deadline.

However, last year, I noticed that I ended up making a lot more cards to post out in late November last year because many of my Christmas in July cards didn’t really seem ‘right’. It’s difficult to explain, but by November many of the cards seemed a little too… engineered. Some were larger than I wanted to mail, others were a little too busy – I know many of my recipients prefer my CAS cards.

So this year, I will be making Christmas in July cards with this in mind. It may be that I don’t participate in certain challenges but that’s OK! I just want to have fun with some amazing products and create cards that I KNOW I will want to send in November!

First up, for Christmas in July Day 1, I’m playing along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

I used a couple of older Memory Box dies – the Fresh Pine Curved Border and the Quiet Cabin Landscape. I actually cut the border die on the reverse of my glitter card and then flipped it over so that the curve aligned more closely with the sketch. There’s a bit of artistic licence with the strip in the sketch though as I used the Santa sleigh from Spellbinders’ Simon’s Snow Globe die set and a few die cut stars instead!

Daffodil delight

Hi there!

A few weeks ago I made a card to celebrate the arrival of the first daffodil of the year in my garden and I’ve been wanting to use the fabulous Spellbinders/Simon Hurley Daffodil Frame die set again.

So today was the day. I decided that I would use this card as my entry into the Spellbinders Cardmaking Star contest and wanted to just use Spellbinders products (although non-Spellbinders products were permitted).

Once again, I cut the main daffodils image from the frame and used it with the separate flower and leaf layers.

I created a pot using half of the central section from the Infinity Punch & Pierce plate and then coloured all images with distress inks.

I made a stencil from the Essential Stylish Ovals die set and lightly blended an oval on a white card panel. I then embossed the panel using the Flower Frenzy folder and arranged the die cuts. I added a sentiment from the Butterfly Sentiments stamp set to complete my card.
