AAA Cards Sixth Birthday

Hi there!

We are celebrating over at AAA Cards as our little challenge is six years old!  We’d love for you to join in and celebrate with us by creating a CAS birthday card. We haven’t got sponsors and a blog hop this year, but you could win a £20 gift card to a store of your choice!

For my birthday card, I pulled out my Simply Graphic dies and some panels I created with distress oxide inks and got to work! I’m also playing along with the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge – they have a fabulous colour combo this week.

The vase die is by My Favorite Things and the sentiment is by Memory Box.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Sofie who has some lovely cards on her Instagram feed!

Hope you can play along with us!

Yellow Leaves

Happy Friyay Everyone!

I took today off and just did fun stuff! Of course that meant spending time in my craft room. I decided to play along with the current Color Throwdown challenge (yellow, grey and white).

I used a Taylored Expressions masking stencil with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink to create a soft panel in the centre of my card. I then used a Simply Graphic die to cut a ink panel I made some time ago and adhered it to my base card. To complete my card, I added a Memory Box sentiment and a few glittery butterflies by Simon Says Stamp.

Belated birthday vase

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge!

I pulled out my newest die set (Altenew Vases) and a few Simply Graphic dies and got to work. I had originally planned to emboss a frame using a Stamp Market die but I still haven’t mastered embossing with dies in my Gemini and ended up cutting the whole shape out instead! So frustrating but I added a piece of acetate and made the card anyway. I’m happy with how it turned out in the end.

The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

AAA Cards Along the edge challenge with furry twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using just one edge of your card. Our optional twist this time is ‘dogs and cats’. Craftyscrappers is our sponsor.

This was an interesting twist for me! Most of my loved ones are cat lovers so I have lots of feline stamps and dies, but very few dogs. I do, however have a cat/dog die set from Simply Graphic. I’ve used the cat die a lot but never used the cute dog. Well now is his time to shine….sort of! Cats still outnumber dogs here!

As my crafty time is short at the moment, I decided to adhere coloured cardstock behind each die cut rather than do inlaid die cutting. I was originally going to just do a couple of colours, but I ended up channelling Laura Fadora and using rainbow colours!

The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Megan, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Scandinavian Inspiration

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge where the combo this week is mustard, teal and navy.

For some reason, I decided I wanted to incorporate a Scandinavian design into my entry this week… I have a set of dies from Simply Graphic (dies trio scandinave) and knew I wanted to use them in some way. I googled for inspiration and really liked this image that I found (Source: MoonStckers).

I used the top section of one of the Simply Graphic dies and repeatedly cut it from a couple of panels that I’d covered in Distress Oxide Spray. I then adhered the die cuts together for sticking them to the navy card base.

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Right At Home stamps and a few Nuvo drops.

Belated birthday berries

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with a couple of challenges – the Color Throwdown challenge (kraft, gold, green and white) and the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge!

I applied a layer of gold Cosmic Shimmer Luna paste to a kraft base.  Whilst it was drying, I cut the branch (Bright Rosa) and added a few white Nuvo drops to some berries. To complete my take, I added a Clearly Besotted sentiment.

I think I may have spent longer trying to photograph this card than I did making it! The Cosmic Shimmer is fabulous, but incredibly difficult to capture!

Thank for stopping by!
