Cardinal in June

Happy Festive Friyay!

My training for Christmas in July continues today with my card for the current sketch challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!

What a great sketch! I had originally planned to use a snowflake die set for my focal point but soon realised that the image would be too big – so I pivoted and pulled out the new-to-me Poppystamps Bird House Pop Up Easel die set that I picked up in a sale earlier this year. I have to confess that I bought the entire set because I LOVED that cardinal die!

I created the background strip using some coloured card, a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and tons of distress oxide ink. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

Meow You Doing?

Hello everyone!

There’s a fabulous sketch for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches – when I saw it, I had so many different ideas…. I think I will be using this again very soon!

For today’s card, I decided to use a couple of new Poppystamps products that I picked up in a sale at the start of the year. The focal point is the Napping Cat die and I’ve also used a sentiment from a Poppystamps sentiment set. The background stamp is from a Flora and Fauna set.

Inspired by Wedgwood

Hello there!

This evening I suddenly remembered that I wanted to play along with the Poppystamps Bloom Where You Are Planted challenge.

I had originally planned to use the flower dies I had purchased from Poppystanos’ newest release, but time was short and the card I had in mind would be a little too fiddly to complete by the deadline (well, OK as I’m in the UK – my bedtime really!).

So, instead, and using Wedgwood pottery as my inspiration, I pulled out a ten-year old die and got creating! The die I used is called Brighton Flower Border. Isn’t it pretty! I really must remember to use it again when time is not of the essence – I can just imagine a card with the Brighton flowers in cheery colours!

So although this card came together really quickly, I spent far too long looking for the Memory Box paper stack that I wanted to use for it! Whenever I want to use this stack, it seems to disappear on me. I found it in the end, but I’m definitely going to make a note of where I hide/store it next. It’s so frustrating when things go AWOL isn’t it? One of the least joyful parts of crafting me thinks!

Bunches o’ Butterflies

Hello there!

Today I’m playing along in this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge using the stunning combo from the  Color Throwdown challenge – grey, magenta and aqua.

I just picked up the new Poppystamps Bunches o’ Butterflies die set and have been looking forward to using it – today was the day! I was very much inspired by a card shared by Poppystamps in their online store  with a kaleidoscope of butterflies!

It took me a little while to arrange all those little butterflies and I must confess that did go back and fiddle with the placement a few times! The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn.

It took me even longer to photograph this card! My lightbox set up seemed to distort the colours regardless of the camera I used (DSLR or iPhone) and so eventually I resorted to my old set up and got images which were most true to what my eye sees!

Joyful Nordic Butterfly

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post with my entry for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.

I used a whole host of products by different manufacturers for this one! The Nordic Fanfare Butterfly and Nordic Butterfly Trio dies are by Poppystamps. I used a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and Basic Grey paper for the background layers and the sentiment is by Taylored Expressions.

Yellow petal egg

Hello there!

Today I’m playing along in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge where the colour palette is pink, yellow and green. Wonderful for Easter and spring cards!

I picked up the Birch Press Design Layered Petal Egg die set in a sale recently and have been looking forward to using it – today was the day! I took inspiration from this card I made three years ago and paired it with the Birch Press Design Oval Leaf Branches Contour Layers dies and a few Poppystamps flowers.

I adhered the adorned egg to a panel embossed using the Nellie’s Choice Egg embossing folder and added a sentiment by Simon Says Stamp to complete my card.
