My Mind’s Eye

Featuring My Mind’s Eye products – generally papers!

Just sitting here…

Happy Friyay everyone!

I love the link chain oval dies from the January My Favorite Things release and I could not believe it when they landed on my door mat this morning as I only ordered them yesterday lunch time. Thank you for your great service, Dies to Die For!

Anyway, I wanted to play with them straight away and so I inked up a bear from the sweet Polar Bear Pals set. I coloured him using my beloved Twinkling H2O paints and added some soft ink blending to the background. I lifted some ink using water, but unfortunately, you can’t really see that from my photos – I guess the blending was a little too soft. I added some shimmer to the insides of the chain frame using my Tonic Nuvo Aqua shimmer pen – I love that shimmer!

Pieced Birthday wishes

Hi everyone!

I’m popping in quickly with a late entry into a new-to-me challenge – the Male Craft Room challenge.

The theme of the challenge was paper piecing – something I haven’t done in YEARS! So when I saw it this evening, I ran into my craft room and got to work!

To begin with, I lightly blended some distress ink onto the base of my card to ‘ground’ the image. The large stamp is actually from a Christmas set by Krumspring Stamps and I used some of My Mind’s Eye paper mountain for the paper piecing.

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment from a My Sentiments Exactly set.

It’s Your Birthday!

Hi everyone!

There’s a lovely autumn palette for this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge (brown, orange, green and kraft) but I decided to put them to use on a birthday card, using the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I embossed an older wood-mounted stamp from Stampendous and then coloured it using my Twinkling H2Os.

I then used a Spellbinders embossing folder on a square of kraft cardstock and stuck it to my base card. I added some paper from My Mind’s Eye paper and the stamped sentiment to finish off my card.

This card came together very quickly… I really wanted to add some orange and green sequins but talked myself out of it as I think this will end up being used for a chap who isn’t that keen on sequins…. or any embellishments!

Dogwood branch

Hi everyone!

The theme for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is ‘thinking of you’ and when I saw that we were also being challenged to use Memory Box products, I thought I would probably use a Memory Box die… but then I remembered this beautiful wood-mounted stamp! Isn’t it pretty?

I coloured the embossed image with my Prismacolor pencils. I am definitely getting more used to using these!

I found some My Mind’s Eye patterned paper which matched the colours perfectly and then added a strip of gold card to the top, which ties in with the god I used to mount the blossom image.

Finally I added a stamp from a Birch Press set.

I’m also entering this in the current Case This Sketch challenge.

Loving Koala

Hi everyone!

When I saw the sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog, I thought it would be a great way of using my new Simon Say Stamp/Sugar Pea Stamptember koala stamps. The set is so cute and I am so glad I managed to snag one before they sold out!

Anyway, for my card, I stamped and coloured the cute koala and then carefully cut just under the image so I could slip a strip of My Mind’s Eye paper underneath – so that it looked like he was sitting on the strip. Anyway, I then added a circle from that I cut from a distress oxide background I made a while back and added a sentiment from the set. I still felt like the card needed ‘something’, so I cut out two hearts to finish it off.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – anything goes.

Let’s eat cake

Hello Everyone!

For this card, I stamped and cut some Simon Says Stamp cupcakes which I then coloured using my Twinking H2Os. I stuck them to a few layers of My Mind’s Eye papers and finally added a ‘Happy Birthday’ die cut also from Simon Says Stamp.

Side note: I popped into my favourite cupcake shop last week – the Primrose Bakery in London. I can honestly say they have the best cupcakes I have ever tasted and they always have ‘special’ varieties on the counter. Last week’s special was ‘rhubarb and custard’ and was my colour inspiration:

I’m entering this into a number of challenges: the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the Casology challenge (cake).
