Birthday Branches

Hello everyone!

I’m playing along with another new-to-me challenge tonight – the Papercraft Crew challenge. The sketch caught my eye as I thought it would provide a great opportunity for me to combine my colouring for Day 17 of the Daily Marker 30 day challenge with an attempt to use up some of my mountain of patterned paper.

Usually I start with the patterned paper, then choose the colours and stamps, but this time I stamped the pretty ‘A branch of…’ stamp by Penny Black and then coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os – I tried to capture some of the shimmer in my second photo – gotta love those Twinklings!

Anyway, I quickly found some Basic Grey papers that complemented my image and once I had assembled the card, I added My Favorite Things sentiment, a couple of Penny Black butterfly die cuts and a few Nuvo drops to complete my take on the sketch.

Broken Record

Hello everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight we want to see your CAS cards using one corner only, with the optional twist of ‘music’. Our sponsor is Uniko.

I have quite a few music stamps and dies and decided to use an older record die from Taylored Expressions, together with a very new stamp set from My Favorite Things.

As I was going to be using a corner I decided a longer sentiment would work quite nicely although I must confess I am a little bemused by it! A broken record never made me happy when I was a child! But I decided to just go with it and stamped it down after smooshing some distress ink on my base card. I then die cut three little records and cut into one of them to break it.

Et voila, a very quick CAS card!

My teammates have created some beautiful designs over at AAA Cards and this fortnight our guest designer is Karen who has some beautiful cards and photos on her blog, Random Reflections – you must check it out!

Looking forward to seeing all the entries!

Melle Papillion

Bonjour!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge which has the most amazing sketch this week! As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to use a triangle as a focal point and thought I’d probably end up using a tree. But, as I was going through my wood-mounted stamps I unearthed the sweet ‘Melle Papillon’ stamp from Penny Black. I got it in 2013 and haven’t used it much at all.

Anyway, I coloured the image with my Prismacolor pencils and then cut it out using a triangular die. I then embossed a sentiment from my favourite things and added die cut butterflies from Memory Box and Simon Says Stamp.

Tweet Wishes

Hello everyone!

I decided to play along with the Addicted to CAS challenge which has a code word of ‘birds’ so for today’s card I used another Hero Arts Wood-mounted stamp, called ‘Bird Family’ from 2008!

I used the sketch and colours from the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge and Colour Challenge. Believe it or not, those birds are stamped on bright white cardstock! Honest! It’s so weird that the camera sees is as light blue. And I just don’t have the Photoshop Skills to correct the camera!!

Anyway stamping and colouring the birds, I embossed a section of card with the My Favorite Things Moroccan Lattice background stamp and smooshed some water colour over it. I then stamped a greeting, also by My Favorite Things and finally added a few dark grey glitter stars to finish off my card.

You are so loved

Happy Saturday friends!

Today’s playing along with two of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown and the Memory Box monthly challenge.

The Color Throwdown’s palette this week is navy, grey and green and when I saw it, I knew I wanted to incorporate flowers or foliage in someway. In the end, I decided to use one of the very first dies my mum bought – the Memory Box Serafina Heart die. She’s been taking a break from crafting for a while and I’m ‘looking after’ some of her craft supplies until she gets back into it!

I added the die cut to a navy heart, also by Memory Box and added a few pearls for the flower centres. I then embossed a Hero Arts sentiment on a grey background panel before lightly stamping a My Favorite Things background stamp using versamark ink.

I stuck the heart to the base card with funky foam and added a few more mini pearls to finish off my card.

Shining Heart of Gold

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with the latest Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge where the theme is ‘love’.

Perfect opportunity for my to use all those heart dies I have bought from SSS over the years. I decided to play with the Shining Heart die that I bought last year and used it across a background panel. I inlaid some hearts that I’d cut from a Ken Oliver Color Burst background I had created a while ago! I inlaid one heart cut from gold glitter cardstock and finally added a My Favorite Things sentiment.
