Butterfly field

Hello again!

Next up is my entry into one of my favourite sketch challenges, Freshly Made Sketches.

I’ve always loved dry embossing but haven’t used my folders much since I switched to the Gemini Junior die cutting machine. I could never get the plate/sandwich quite right. Last week, I decided to get my old manual die cutting machine out again, so I cleared some space in my craft room and set it up. So far, so good! The Gemini will continue to be my favourite machine for die cutting but it was so good to get a decent first impression with an embossing folder again!

So the reason for this little back story is that I was able to quickly emboss this sweet flowery scene with my new set up using an older Couture Creations folder. I added some die cut butterflies (Stampin Up, Memory Box and Simon Says Stamp) and a sentiment by Clearly Besotted.

Let’s Sail Away

Hello again everyone!

After a lovely day yesterday celebrating a dear friend’s special birthday, I finally got to my craft table this weekend to make my entry into the current Color Throwdown which has a nautical palette of light grey, aqua and navy.

I paired a brand new Memory Box die set (Marina Sailboats) with an older die (Silent Snowfall) that I  repurposed to represent water! The sentiment is from an older Simon Says Stamp set called Sailing.

I’m also entering this into the current Memory Box challenge where the theme is ‘feeling blue’.

Mini Slimline card

Hi there!

Next up today, I’m playing along with the colour challenge over at CAS Colours and Sketches.

Many many years ago, I made MANY mini slim line cards, but I haven’t made one for years! Luckily I kept all the card bases I bought and dusted them down for today’s quick CAS card. I used dies by Memory Box, coloured with distress ink, together with a sentiment from The Ton Stamps.

Under the Sea Collage

Happy Monday everyone!

First up today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown which has a stunning colour combo this week (aqua, ice blue and pale green).

I had one idea for this card, but then couldn’t find the stamp I wanted to use – goodness knows where it is! So I quickly had to pivot to a quick CAS card using Memory Box dies (under the Sea Collage, Delicate Sea Fan and Swimming Seahorses). Although the blended background turned out a little darker than I wanted, I’m happy that I was able to play with my new Salvage Patina distress ink again, it’s such a pretty colour!

I’m also entering this into the current Memory Box challenge where the theme is water.

Springtime flower box

Happy Saturday friends!

It’s been a long time since I last played in a Simon Says Stamp blog challenge but the Wednesday challenge theme is ‘dies or punches’ with Memory Box products being showcased. Well of course I HAD to play along didn’t I?!

I used a couple of old dies and one newer one for my take on the challenge theme – the Grand Flower Box by Poppystamps plus the beautiful Spring border – which is celebrating its tenth birthday this year! Yep this beautiful die is from 2011! I coloured the die cuts with distress inks and then added a die cut from the 2020 Cherry Blossom branches set on top of the box.

The sentiment is also by Memory Box.

Sketch challenge

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge over at CAS Colours and Sketches.

I really loved the sketch when I saw it because it takes me outside my comfort zone – I usually prefer to use an odd number of images on my card but this sketch had an even number (two circles).

For the card above, which is my entry, I used the fabulous My Favorite Things Houseplant die set with a Hero Arts frame die and a Memory Box sentiment. But I have to admit, it was actually my second card using this sketch. Here’s the one I made on Saturday:

I used flower dies by Creative Expressions and the Honey Bee Stamps woodgrain frame builder die set, plus a sentiment from Clearly Besotted. On Sunday, I decided to use the sketch with the MFT die set as well.

I prefer the plant card, but I’m totally into creating cards with plants and vases this year. Seriously I can’t stop buying vase dies! So which card is your favourite?
