Summer Flower box

Hello again everyone!

Next up today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches and this week it’s a slimline card sketch!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m so glad I was able to hold on to all my old pre-creased slimline card bases. I used these so much a decade ago and the card is still beautifully white!

I decided to use a few of my older Memory Box dies (Summer Border die and Grape Vine die) together with a newer Sizzix die. The sentiment is from a Pretty Pink Posh set.

Playful Petals

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s Color Throwdown challenge  which has a fabulous combo of navy, blue, green and orange) as well as the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

For my card, I used uneven square dies from Marianne Design plus the beautiful Playful Petals Bundle die from Memory Box. The sentiment is from my go-to set my Sugar Pea Designs.

Another double challenge

Hi everyone!

For my second card of the day, I’m playing along with the ‘double’ challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. This challenge combines colours AND a sketch… and can be quite tricky… but hey, that’s why they are called challenges, isn’t it?

For my card, I used the beautiful Birch Press Eloquent Butterfly layering die set, a couple of Memory Box daisies, together with a sentiment from Memory Box.

Silver Vine Butterfly

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Lots of layers in this one – I was able to use some of my patterned paper mountain, a new embossing folder (Creative Expressions Art Deco Flowers) and a fabulous die – the Memory Box Vine Butterfly. The sentiment is also by Memory Box.

Autumn Cattails

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with one of my favourite challenges –Freshly Made Sketches. They are celebrating their 500th challenge this week – what an inspiration! I think it’s wonderful that the challenge is still going strong and I’m so grateful to the Challenge administrators and DT members for all that they do in making this challenge blog such a fun and happy place. THANK YOU Freshly Made Sketches team!!

Anyway, this week’s sketch is a fun one! I was originally tempted to pull out my stems dies to create that left hand side panel but then I remembered that I have some ‘awkward’ dies that I never used because I can never come up with a decent design to showcase them! I was CONVINCED one of those dies was a tall tree, but it wasn’t in my ‘tree’ section so instead I used this beautiful Graceful Cattails die by Memory Box. I don’t think I’ve ever used it before, even though it’s five years old!

Anyway, I created a blended background using Distress Oxides – it’s been a while since I blended with them and I forgot how wonderfully they blend! I used the die to cut some brown card and then adhered image to the blended background. I layered it to a couple of panels and added a Hero Arts sentiment to complete my take. It’s not a totally autumnal card, but as it feels like autumn here today, I felt it was the right  one to go with!

Little white Willoughby butterfly

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Memory Box / Outside the Box challenge where the theme is ‘white focal point’.

Once I decided on my design and dies, I got to work blending a central oval. I die cut the Asti and Willoughby Butterfly wings dies from white card and white glitter card and adhered them all together. I worked out where I would position the butterfly before stamping the Altenew sentiment. After adhering my butterfly, I added a few baby sequins and hey presto, my card was finished!

Sounds simple doesn’t it! Believe me, the making of this card was certainly NOT a smooth process! This was actually my fourth attempt at the SAME card for this challenge. After messing up the stamping twice, when I went to write this blog post, I realised that I had inadvertently used POPPYSTAMPS dies for the card I had made specifically for for a MEMORY BOX challenge! Argh! As I was well-practiced with this design, I simply made it a fourth time with different inks and dies! You can see the other card here!
