Glittery Heartstrings

Happy Friyay everyone!

I absolutely love playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge and love thinking of ways to use the weekly colour combo. Every now and then, there’s a combo that isn’t really ‘me’ and I have to admit I struggled a little with this week’s palette – blue, green and yellow.

In the end, I decided to do some inlaid die cutting and created my own glitter card using regular distress inks (stormy sky, mowed lawn and squeezed lemonade) and Tonic Studios Nuvo glimmer paste.

After creating the heart with a die from Concord & 9th, I felt this card still needed a little extra something so applied some more glimmer paste through an Altenew stencil.

The sentiment is also by Concord & 9th.

I’m also entering this into the current Where Creativity Meets C9 challenge – ‘Sparkle and Shine’.

Bold Simple Flowers

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (coral, aqua, green and yellow) and decided to ink up the Altenew Simple Flowers set which I’ve had for quite a while but have never got round to using!

I don’t have the dies so fussy cut the images once the ink was dry – simple shapes = easy fussy cutting! if only it was always that easy, eh!

For the base, I used a background die from Altenew and adhered it to a white base card. The sentiment is also by Altenew.

Seeing dots

Happy Saturday everyone!

So, it should come as no surprise that I LOVE background dies. The Altenew Doodled Dots cover die is no exception and I was fortunate enough to get mine during Dies to Die For’s recent Easter discount weekend. It is such a beautiful die – I’m looking forward to using it with an ink blended background, but first of all I decided to play along with this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge (pink, red, mint) and used it with some coloured cardstock.

(That cardstock really is mint-like in real life, honest! Unfortunately it looks quite aqua in my photos…)

I’d love to say these were quick makes. That would be a lie! It took HOURS to inlay all those little dots….. I may have got a little frustrated… but now that it’s over, I like having the set of three cards to compare! Plus three more cards to add to my ‘stock’!

To finish off the cards, I used dies from Savvy Stamps and Penny Black.

So, which one is your favourite?

Purrfect Birthday

Hi Everyone!

I have the honour of being the GD over at the Case This Sketch challenge. This week was a throwback sketch from a few years ago – before I discovered the challenge! I had LOTS of ideas for this one as it’s wonderful for creating CAS cards, don’t you think?

Anyway, for my card, I used some of my patterned paper mountain plus some cute kitty dies from Impression Obsession and a sentiment from Altenew.

There’s lots of inspiration over at the Case This sketch blog – I hope you can play along!

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge (a trio of something).

Leaf bursts

Hi there!

I’m still on a quest to find my mojo and decided to enter the Altenew inspiration challenge as I haven’t played along in that for a while. I pulled out the fabulous new Altenew leaf burst stencil and got masking/inking.

I really liked the blue/peach combo… and then I re-read the Altenew challenge – the colours are actually blue, CORAL and light brown! So I redid the card with the correct colour combo!

Which one do you prefer?

I’m also entering this into the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Purple and Brown….

Hi everyone!

This week’s Colour Throwdown challenge has a beautiful palette – light purple, dark purple, beige/off white and brown. But I liked it so much, I was kind of overwhelmed. Do you ever feel like that? I didn’t feel like any of the designs I thought of would do it justice. So I was stuck…..

Then today, a whole load of Altenew inspiration appeared in my Instagram feed and I decided to play with the Garden Treasure set in the hopes I could make it work with the combo. I think this is the first time with an Altenew layering stamp that I haven’t used different shades of the same colour! I think I quite like that beige base for the flower.

Anyway, I used Altenew inks for the flower and leaf and stuck them to a base I’d created using a Spellbinders embossing folder. The sentiment is also from Altenew. Once the card was assembled, I felt it needed a little something extra so I added a few glittery die cuts from a Simply Graphic die.
