Christmas in July 2024 – Day 27

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 27 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and today I have a fourfer to share. Fourfer… is that even a word?! Ah well you know what I mean!

The idea for the cards popped into my head last night when I was looking for base card for my pinecone sprig. I tried some Tonic Studio speciality paper – it wasn’t right but I vowed to use it today… well I certainly did that! The tree images are from a set by Marianne Designs that I got a few years ago. I think I can safely say that I really don’t need that coverplate/tree die set that I was thinking about at the start of the month!

For my first card, I cut some black card with the fabulous Heffydoodle background die and added a generous amount of ink splatters! After I had arranged all my trees, I used Scattered Straw distress stickles to ground my little forest.

For my second card I used an Alex Syberia background die. I toyed with adding a sentiment but decided to keep it very CAS!

For my third card, I embossed the background with a favourite Sizzix folder – I just love those little deep embossed trees.

And last, but not least is my fourth card – I used an older My Favorite Things sentiment die for this one- and some more gold splatters!

So which one do you prefer?

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 16

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 16 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and today I have another twofer to share.

Today’s focal point is the Wide Pine Needle Shoots die set by Poppystamps – I’ve already used it once this month, but I had a few more ideas for it!  I cut it from dark green card and glitter card and got busy!

For my first card, I cut some green card with an Alex Syberia background die. I adhered my tree to a tag cut from an Altenew die and added a silver bow and die cut star before affixing it to my card base.

For my second card, I embossed the background with a Spellbinders folder and adhered my tree with another little die cut star. The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts wood-mounted set.

So which one do you prefer?

Bottlebrush Trio card

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a combo of white, black, dark green and yellow green – I don’t think they’ve chosen this palette before and I was excited to play with it!

I just saw a Flora and Fauna instgram post using their Tinsel Tree dies – love them although sadly I can’t get them in the UK, but I was reminded of a wonderful die that I do have in my collection – their larger Bottlebrush Tree. I found it and got cutting! I used regular coloured cardstock and decided to double up each tree with a sparkly die cut. I had some dark green glitter card that worked really well, but nothing suitable for the yellow green trees. So I used Holly Branch Mica Stain to create an inky panel which I then die cut.

I die cut some Penny Black pots from white glitter cardstock, added white glitter card dots to the trees and assembled the die cuts on a base that I had cut using the wonderful Sparkly Flakes coverplate die by Alex Syberia.

The biggest challenge was the photography! My camera and phone both interpreted the yellow green as yellow so I had to play around with the backgrounds and light intensity to get a better representation of the real-life colours. It took a while but I got there in the end!

White trim a tree

Happy Festive Friyay everyone!

Once again I’m embracing Festive Fridays by playing along with the colour challenge at the 52 Christmas card challenge where the combo is kraft, black and white.

I’ve been wanting to use the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Trim a Tree die set since September! Today was finally the day and it was so much fun to use! The tree is large and with all the layers, the tree is rather thick but still quite delicate – I think I will be handing this one out in person rather than sending it via Royal Mail! I added tons of glitter to the card but it’s so difficult to photograph! So frustrating!

I used a beautiful cover plate die by Alex Syberia called Sparkly Flakes – isn’t it pretty? Finally I added a Clearly Besotted sentiment to complete my card.

Thanks for stopping by!
