Cards created for the AAA Cards challenge

AAA Cards One Layer challenge with polar twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a one-layer CAS card; our optional twist is ‘polar animals! Our sponsor is Ink Road.

A few years ago, when I saw how all my sweet, cute stamps were piling up, untouched, I finally realised I’m not a ‘cutesy’ cardmaker…. I LOVE looking at what others come up with but in reality I wasn’t using all those cute images. But you know what it’s like, the new release would come out, I’d buy them before they went out of stock but by the time the stamps arrived, influencers were working with the next cute release and the whole cycle would start again. Seriously, I have so many otters, lions, flamingos, farm animals, sea creature and other critters that I just never touch! I’m very careful nowadays and rarely get swept along with the monthly release FOMO!

But of course, I can’t resist the odd cutesy purchase here and there! For today’s card, I pulled out the sweet Seymore Seal stamp by Impression Obsession. He’s a November purchase and I’m so pleased that I was able to use him for this challenge! After stamping him, I masked the image and then stamped an ice block from a My Favorite Things set. I masked that block and sponged a light layer of Distress Ink across the background. After I removed the masks I coloured the ice and Seymore using my Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is also by My Favorite Things.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Kylie, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

AAA Cards Sketch challenge

Hi there!

It’s time for the first challenge of the year (and decade!!!) at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the sketch we’ve provided; our optional twist is ‘winter birthday’! Our sponsor is Craftyscrappers .

Now, I have a winter birthday and I like receiving all sorts of bright and cheerful cards so I decided to use some butterfly dies for my take on the challenge. I used the Simon Says Stamp Adeline Butterfly and Flickering Butterflies dies and cut them from a piece of card that I’d previously coated in various colours of Cosmic Shimmer Luna Paste.

I added a strip of white card embossed using a Crafts-Too folder and a Sugar Pea Designs sentiment to complete my take.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Milka, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Deck the halls… continued!

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the edge of your card; our optional twist is, rather intriguingly, time travel! Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

Life is crazy right now so I made a simple festive card using Penny Black stamps and my beloved Twinkling H2O paints.

Winter scene

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card in ‘minutes’; our optional twist is ink blending. Our sponsor is Uniko.

I confess I am not a fan of making cards against the clock. I find joy in the creative process…. all the other parts of my life seem to involve rushing and so I relish my peaceful crafty time.

I used a MFT stencil and regular distress ink to create the ink blended circle. Then I simply adhered a die cut from an older set by Create A Smile stamps to complete my card.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Angie, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Deck the Halls

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card with just one image; our optional twist is ‘shimmer’. Our sponsor is Funky Fossil Designs.

I heat embossed a gorgeous ornament image from Julie Hickey Designs and then coloured it with my Twinkling H2o paints. It really shimmers in real life, but it’s so difficult to capture in a photo! I fussy cut around the image and got to work on my card base.

I cut a piece of Hero Arts Nautical cardstock (such a fabulous navy cardstock) and applied a little distress oxide to the centre of the base to create a glow from the ornament. I then spritzed a layer of Pixie Dust across the card before adhering the ornament with foam pads. I then embossed a Mama Elephant sentiment to complete my card.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Joyce, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Geometric Tree

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card with as much white space as possible; our optional twist is ‘geometric’. Our sponsor is Uniko.

I always seem to use triangles for geometric challenges and as you can see, this time is no exception! I stamped and embossed an image from the Simon Says Stamp Festive Trees set and then coloured the triangles with my Twinkling H2o paints. The sentiment (which I also embossed) is by Mama Elephant.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Emily Shroom, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!
