Best heart

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I’ve been wanting to ink up the Wholeheartedly cling stamp (40-817) again and today was the day. I really think that this is my favourite heart stamp and an absolute joy to colour! This time, I stamped it in Lost Shadow distress oxide ink and then coloured it using my Prismacolor pencils.

I masked off a frame and lightly blended distress ink over the background. I then added a few vellum dragonflies from the Flutter die set (51-006) and a butterfly from the Flourish and Butterflies die set (51-198).

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Trust Me builder set (30-710) and a few gems.

Sparkly Nordic Bird

Hi again everyone!

Next up today is the card I made for the Poppystamps Sparkling New Year challenge.

I started by applying a layer of sparkle texture paste to a sheet of Craft Consortium paper. While that was drying, I built my bird! This little guy is cut from ivory glitter cardstock which I coloured with alcohol markers.

I have to say that I’m glad I received this Nordic Bird set directly from Poppystamps because I noticed that he’s actually looking in a different direction from the image on the packaging and on the DT cards on the blog… I don’t think this has happened with any dies that I’ve bought before and had I bought it somewhere else I suspect that I would have felt that something was amiss! At least I know for sure this is a bone fide Poppystamps product!

Once the paper was dry and sparkling, I cut the Snowflake Tall Curve border die twice and adhered it to my card base. To anchor my bird, I then added a glittery focal point cut using the fabulous Oval Burst die and added a Penny Black sentiment before adhering the bird and a few gems.

Colourful Nordic Flourishes

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a fun palette of red, navy and pink.

I have to confess that I spent some time today trying to come up with a design for these colours! In the end, I decided to use the Poppystamps Nordic Flourishes die set that I picked up just after Christmas.

I cut the dies from three different Craft Consortium papers and then spent far too long arranging the elements on my card base! I realised that I needed to work around my sentiment (Hello Cursive Script Circle by Memory Box) and it actually became much easier to get a layout once that was in place!

To complete my card I added a few pearls.

Merry Berry Wreath

Happy Festive Friyay!

Today I’m playing along with the current theme challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!

I finally got my hands on Simon Says Stamp Berry Wreath dies set after their Thanksgiving sale last year and used it just once – for my mum’s Christmas card. So naturally I thought of it as soon as I saw the challenge theme. Although it’s only been a month since Christmas, I was VERY excited to play with this die set again.

I coloured all the die cuts with distress ink and adhered it to a base that I had embossed with a Spellbinders folder.

The sentiment is by Savvy Stamps.

Basket of hearts

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I knew as soon as I saw the basket in the Berry Basket set (51-796) that I would be using it during all the seasons – so I’m kicking of my personal challenge with a love card!

I started with the Line of Hearts die (51-285) which I cut from glitter card. I then used the cut and coloured the largest die from the Framed set (51-622) with distress inks. I then cut the Heartlets die set (51-294) a couple of times and coloured all my images with distress inks.

As I was arranging all the images on a standard card base, I felt that the square frame was a little too big so I switched things up and moved to a square card instead. Sadly the frame still seemed too large so I will have to use that on another design! I adhered everything to the card base and added a few glitter heart ‘offcuts’ (from the Line of Hearts and Heartlets dies).

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Snippets set (30-823).

Butterfly thank you card

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a beautiful combo of blush, dusty blue and pink.

I received a few Poppystamps dies this morning – including the Beautiful Butterflies Sidekick Frame and Stencil set which I have been wanting for a while! So I just had to play with it straightaway!

The set includes a die that cuts a number of standalone butterflies which I cut from card and vellum. I coloured all the images with distress ink and added some pencil detail. For the background, I was inspired by Deb’s card with this set, so I cut some Penny Black clouds from masking paper and lightly blended some Stormy Sky distress ink over them. I adhered the frame to the panel and added the standalone butterflies and their bodies,

To complete my card I added a Penny Black sentiment.
