Grateful leaves

Happy World Card Making Day Everyone!

What a fun day it’s been – so many companies have blog hops, sales and so much inspiration. I’m so grateful for this community!

Here is one of the cards I made today – an autumn card using stamps and dies from Concord & 9th. I stamped the large leaf on vellum and the embossed it with the wonderful Altenew golden peach embossing powder which I may have used on a number of today’s cards!

Anyway, I mixed some distress ink into texture paste before applying it through a grid stencil. Not traditional autumn colours but I like how it turned out!

I’m entering this card (via Instagram) into Concord & 9th’s World Card Making Day challenge and also the Casology challenge (‘grid’).

Pumpkin greetings

Happy Friyay people!

I love autumn! Especially when the sun is shining! And it’s been one of those days today, beautiful autumnal weather. Anyway, I also love that the challenges at this time of year give me a perfect opportunity to dig into my HUGE pile of pumpkin stamps and use them!

Today’s card is for the Color Throwdown challenge where the colour combo is orange, kraft and white! Perfect for autumn cards!

I stamped a Penny Black image lightly on to kraft paper and then coloured it in using Prismacolor pencils. I’m really enjoying these pencils – still lots to learn, but I find myself reaching for them more often. Anyway, I went over the entire image with my white pencil first so that the orange would be a bit more vibrant. I didn’t have too many shades of orange in my set, but I am so happy that I was able to make them work for this card!

Once I’d finished colouring, I stamped over it again so that the black ink would be nice and crisp. Thank goodness for the MISTI!

Finally, I added a greeting from Memory Box and a few Nuvo drops to finish the card!

Happy Meow-lloween!

Hello everyone!

The themes for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge are Halloween/use dark colours! Perfect opportunity for me to get inky and play a bit more with a fabulous Halloween stamp set from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous!

I created the coloured strips using regular and oxide distress inks and also used some distress oxide ink to colour my moon. I stamped the cat trio using versafine and then added a layer of Delicata black shimmer ink. As I then heat embossed the image, it’s quite difficult to see the shimmer, but it is there! Honest!

Anyway, I cut out the cats and then very carefully added some glow in the dark Nuvo drops. When I made this last night, I turned off all the lights and this stuff really does glow! So difficult to photograph though!

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

I’m also entering this into the current Case This Sketch challenge.

Loving Koala

Hi everyone!

When I saw the sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog, I thought it would be a great way of using my new Simon Say Stamp/Sugar Pea Stamptember koala stamps. The set is so cute and I am so glad I managed to snag one before they sold out!

Anyway, for my card, I stamped and coloured the cute koala and then carefully cut just under the image so I could slip a strip of My Mind’s Eye paper underneath – so that it looked like he was sitting on the strip. Anyway, I then added a circle from that I cut from a distress oxide background I made a while back and added a sentiment from the set. I still felt like the card needed ‘something’, so I cut out two hearts to finish it off.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – anything goes.

Merry Geo Tree

Hi there!

I must say that the inspiration board for September’s Pin-sights Challenge is absolutely gorgeous. In my view the best I’ve seen!  So many possibilities….

In the end, I went with something totally outside my comfort zone – I created a watercolour background using a number of colours from the board.

When I was happy with how that was looking, I added some gold watercolour – love how this turned out!

I cut out the tree using the Ellen Hutson/Essentials by Ellen Geo tree die set and used it to cover a section of my finished background. Finally, I added an Essentials by Ellen sentiment to complete the card. I was toying with adding a few stars to the background, but decided to keep it CAS.

And the added bonus? I still have enough of my background left to use in more cards, so don’t be surprised if you see it make a reappearance here before Christmas!

I’m also entering this into this week’s Less is More challenge as the theme is ‘watercolour’.

Autumn colour

Hi everyone!

The Color Throwdown challenge has another fabulous colour combination this week – rust, green, orange and aqua! They were such fun to play with and I ended up creating two cards!

I used Impression Obsession’s background fancy leaf stamp with distress inks for both cards. For the first card, I trimmed down the background to fit a card base and simply added a rectangle of vellum and a Memory Box sentiment die. I added a few sequins to finish it off.

For the second card, I embossed a piece of cardstock using a Spellbinders embossing folder. I cut my stamped panel with an Essentials by Ellen die and then added a Concord and 9th sentiment.
