Fabulous Crane

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. Cecile has shared a fabulous arty sketch and I totally thought I would use a die cut flower as the focal image… until I sat down at my craft table!

I picked up a few products that I had just received in my last Simon Says Stamp order and flicked though them… as soon as I saw the amazing Block Print Crane die by Birch Press Designs, I pivoted as I knew it would work perfectly with the sketch. I tried to resist buying this die as my common sense told me that I wouldn’t use it… but my resolve just disappeared when I placed my Simons order – I mean it is just so unique! I’m very happy I got to use it for my take on the sketch! !

For the background I used stencils by Taylored Expressions. I was going to add splatters or stamped dots but in the end decided that a few sequins would work well plus I could play around with their placement without committing!

Daffodils and butterflies

Happy Sunday friends!

Spring seemed to spring in my little part of the world this week and I managed to do some gardening, although today was less pleasant. Still I was in the mood for spring crafting and when I saw that the theme for this fortnight’s challenge at CAS on Sunday was ‘spring’, I decided to play along!

The daffodils are popping in my garden and all around the place right now – I love the bright bursts of colour, especially on greyer days like today! So I grabbed the Simon Hurley/Spellbinders Daffodil Frame die set and my inks and got busy!

I added my image to a background I had embossed with the Simon Says Stamp Floral Butterfly Bouquet folder. I love these tulip images and only noticed the butterflies after I had read the folder name when it was released last month. So when I felt that my card needed something more, a few butterflies seemed the natural choice and I die cut some using the Simon Says Stamp Flickering Butterflies set.

Springtime Snowdrops

Hi there!

I was very pleased when I saw the sketch for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches as I knew I had the perfect stencil to replicate the three panels. So I grabbed my inks, the fabulous Pinkfresh 1″ blending brushes and got busy!

I love snowdrops – it always amazes me that something so delicate is so hardy and the first flower to emerge from the depths of my winter garden. My snowdrops are almost completely finished now but I’m so happy to celebrate them with this card!

Pretty Blooms

Hi there!

There’s a really interesting sketch for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. At first I thought I may pass on entering this week because nothing sprung to mind immediately. But as is so often the way with crafting, I suddenly had an idea!

I realised that elements from the Pinkfresh Studios Pretty Blooms washi product suite by that I received in the February Create & Connect event kit would work very well. I also used a frame and sentiment stamps from the event kit.

The gold element is a Paper Rose Studio Honeysuckle die cut – I thought the shape tied in nicely with the sprigs on the washi.

Nordic Hello There

Hello everyone!

I was disappointed when a crafty order didn’t arrive as hoped yesterday… but honestly, it’s not as if I don’t have any unused crafty supplies! So my entry for the first Color Throwdown challenge of March uses a new-to-me Poppystamps die set called Nordic Drifting Flowers.

I have to say that I completely overlooked this set when it was released last year. It was only when I saw it used on the Poppystamps website that I knew I had to have it! My inspiration is that very Poppystamps card – and I used Craft Consortium paper in the challenge combo of light brown, blue and dark brown.

I cut the die four times, once in each colour and again from the blue paper and then had a lot of fun assembling the flowers. I used a frame cut using a Pinkfresh Studio die set to house my images which I then arranged…. this part always takes me far too long because I always second guess myself. This time, I took photos of each iteration before I landed on my favoured layout – I think it helped having photos of previous arrangements to look at!

Glittery Mod Blossoms

Hello again everyone!

Next up today is my entry for the second February Color Throwdown challenge – an interesting combo of pink, lime and teal.

Quite a challenging combo for me but I decided to use my new Waffle Flower Mod Blossoms stencil set and coordinating die with some fabulous Pinkfresh Studio Glitter card.

The sentiment is by Spellbinders and cut from some mirror card that by sheer chance coordinates perfectly with the glitter card!
